Originations Specialist
for Monticello, with offices in NY, Chicago Area, Miami, Philadelphia Area, and Richmond, VA. The primary responsibilities and qualifications include: Proactively source, develop and onboard new senior housing & skilled nursing financing opportunities Effectively manage prospecting activities, document call efforts, maintain a pipeline of new business and utilize sales support tools Actively engage in industry events in an effort to source new client relationships Work closely with senior members of the team to develop calling strategies with targeted prospect lists Negotiate deal terms with potential clients and brokers Advise on appropriate structure and pricing for debt financings and mobilize the vital resources to achieve successful transactions Support senior team members in the origination and execution of lending opportunities by reviewing prospective deals and assist in reviewing new lead opportunities Maintain direct daily interface with potential borrowers, debt brokers, and other stakeholders involved in a particular transaction Develop financial models for the evaluation of potential investments in debt and equity across all real estate asset classes, reviewing potential transactions for the proper balance of feasibility and risk Assist in commercial loan underwriting conducting initial due diligence for loan transactions Assist in origination and underwriting through data analytics, participation in site visits, and borrower financial and operational risk due diligence Facilitate the company’s growth by identifying and developing process efficiency improvements, including the development and enhancement of the firm’s custom designed technologies Maintain in depth understanding of the company’s products and services as well as knowledge of the competitive landscape Assist in the preparation of loan commitments to borrowers Analyze and report to loan committee the following: property (occupancy, operating, strategic, clinical performance, changes to the competitive landscape), loan (financial condition), borrower (KYC, regulatory / reputational standing) Analyze historical and borrower projected financials to determine feasibility of borrower plan, and escalating any potential areas of concern Travel as required Work in the office as required by office policy Job Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree Finance, credit, legal, real estate and/or business background 3-5 years’ related work experience Broad knowledge of commercial lending, credit risk, structuring and distribution Established organizational skills and ability to simultaneously handle multiple projects Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with borrowers, financing counterparties, and other external parties Familiarity with financing multi-family and senior housing preferred Experience in adjacent industries, such as DME, is helpful Passion for the firm and passion for what we do Intellectual curiosity, asking the “Why?” question At Monticello, we believe that finding creative solutions for our clients comes from the collaboration of people with diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
