SunSource has an exciting opportunity for a Human Resource Generalist based in MI. The scope of this role will be to contribute to the growth of the company by providing professional support for organizational business initiatives through effective execution of HR programs and practices. This role is responsible for supporting a workforce of approximately 400 associates located in multiple states and provinces around the US, Mexico and Canada.
Essential Functions
Counsel associates and managers on policies, procedures, and performance management Manage existing associate benefits programs and services Work with SunSource Shared Services to provide information and associate statuses for processing of bi-weekly payroll, including new hire-set up and separations Oversight of US, Mexico and Canadian workers comp tracking, reporting and invoice processing Partner with Corporate HR to implement companywide programs Provides full life-cycle recruitment support by partnering with Corporate Recruitment and hiring managers to develop sourcing plans to address staffing needs and facilitate the on-boarding process Plan and conduct new associate orientation to foster a positive attitude toward organizational objectives Will need to be onsite at multiple locations within Michigan and able to travel to locations outside of MI for training and meetings Execute Performance Management process and ensure all associates have goals and receive annual reviews Manage employee relations, addressing concerns, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution. Experience, Education and Skills
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology or similar relevant field. 5+ years' experience in an HR Generalist capacity (employee relations, benefits, payroll, full cycle recruiting). HRIS system proficiency, experience with UKG is a plus. Strong experience with Microsoft Office Products to prepare reports and employee communications. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks and have a strong team approach with all levels of management and associates throughout the organization. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities with a strong attention to detail. Highly collaborative with clients and co-workers. Demonstrated knowledge of State and Federal employment law Strong business acumen Must be able to travel between two company locations - Southgate, MI and Warren, MI Your success in the role will be dependent on your skills and ability to:
Keep abreast of US, Mexico and Canadian employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance to mitigate risk Effectively build relationships with key business unit leaders to provide direction and promote consistent business practices Ability to recommend new approaches for continual improvements Excellent communication skills to clearly articulate and support decisions, both in written and oral formats Must have the ability to maintain strict confidentiality
