RF Microwave Solderer Assembler Job Description and Profile


The assembly of miniaturized electronics (bare die and chip components) for Hybrids, Multi-chip Modules, and Radio Frequency (RF) modules. The Micro Electronics Assembler performs manual placement of Microwave components and hand soldering of Microwave assemblies. Advanced ability to solder components and thru hole parts within IPC standards and in a fast and accurate manor. RF Microwave Soldering capable with precision and accuracy

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to read and analyze complex instructions and procedures, engineering drawings, schematics and specifications
  • Ability to locate and analyze complex production problems.
  • Ability to read assembly prints and follow detailed instructions
  • Ability to solder with accuracy within IPC 610 standards, J STD 100 and MIL 883
  • Ability to work with components as small as .010"x.005"
  • Operation of multiple types of soldering equipment.
  • Use of Hot Plates and ovens
  • Ability to work under a microscope for several hours per day
  • Assembly problem solving on the fly is critical
  • Lead cutting using sharp tools
  • Tinning of component leads
  • Lead stripping
  • Lead forming
  • Kit prep
  • Proper use of hazardous solvents
  • Board attach with epoxy and solder

Skills and Specifications

  • Ability to manually place and solder miniaturized electronic components under a microscope within a defined period-of-time.
  • Hot plate soldering experience
  • General and specialized knowledge of Micro-electronics assembly techniques.
  • Knowledge of assembly procedures, processes, and quality specifications
  • Ability to utilize hand tools such as torque drivers, tweezers and other similar tools; Good dexterity, eye/hand coordination
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to operate equipment to perform pass/fail product tests.
  • Must possess basic computer skills
  • Experience with advanced electronics assembly.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow assembly instructions, including visual aids and drawings.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-883 preferred
  • IPC-610/J-Std Certified
