Salary: $70,000 - $100,000 per year

Job Details

Job description:

Our client is seeking a commercial estimator with 2 to 5 years of experience working for a General Contractor. This person must have experience estimating commercial projects.

General duties:

Cost Estimation and Analysis: Proficiency in estimating labor, material, equipment, and project costs accurately based on blueprints, specifications, and site conditions.

Blueprint Reading and Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to create accurate project estimates.

Mathematics and Financial Acumen: Strong mathematical skills and understanding of financial principles to calculate accurate project costs and profit margins.

Attention to Detail: A high level of precision to ensure no cost element is overlooked in estimates, preventing costly project overruns.

Time Management: Ability to meet deadlines, especially when multiple bids need to be submitted within tight time frames.

Negotiation and Communication Skills: Effective communication with contractors, vendors, and clients to clarify project needs, negotiate costs, and ensure accurate understanding of project requirements.

Project Management Software: Familiarity with estimation software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, ProEst) and project management tools for efficient calculations and tracking.

Knowledge of Construction Materials and Methods: Understanding various construction methods, materials, and building codes to produce accurate estimates that align with current industry standards.

Market and Industry Trends: Awareness of current market conditions, material costs, labor availability, and industry trends that can influence project estimates.

Problem-Solving: Ability to foresee potential project challenges and adjust estimates or recommend solutions to keep the project on track and within budget.
