POSITION SUMMARY: To plan, organize and direct the operations of a Credit Union Branch, and provide for the effective and efficient servicing of Credit Union Members by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Must maintain Notary Commission and provide Notarial services for members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
MEMBER SERVICE AND TEAM DEVELOPMENT - 50% Maintain a significant lobby presence focusing on Member relations and employee development.
Coordinate branch functions to provide quality service to members.
Assess service effectiveness of the branch on an ongoing basis and develop strategies which will generate staff feedback and new ideas to aid in increasing effectiveness.
Provide coaching and counseling to branch team members to optimize their performance.
Implement and maintain ongoing training programs to enhance individual development in sales, service, product knowledge, interpersonal, and technical skills.
Receives and responds to inquiries and complaints, resolving both employees and members problems whenever possible.
Conduct periodic meetings for branch employees to inform them of policy and procedures changes and developments and to provide a communication base for problems, discussions ideas, etc.
Act as liaison between Credit Union's Management and branch office's operations.
Must be able to pass various background checks. This includes the California criminal background check that allows team member to sell certain insurance products.
All team members must comply with regulatory compliance and assigned training requirements including but not limited to BSA regulations corresponding to their specific job duties. This includes the SAFE Act. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary and other employment related actions.
Perform any function needed to provide maximum service to Credit Union Members.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT - 25% Branch Manager is the Credit Union/community liaison, generating leads, creating good will, networking, and participating in local events within assigned region with a focus on surrounding schools.
Work closely with Business Development Manager in all aspects of business development and community development.
Meet/exceed business development growth goals established by SVP of Operations, by developing a regionalized growth plan.
Generates and acquires new business, promotes new membership, increases membership growth and participation at surrounding schools/occupational groups, and maintains excellent business relationships within the designated community.
Manages and enhances surrounding school/occupational group relationships through verbal and written communication to include but not limited to emails, fax, phone, in-person meetings, special events, presentations, seminars, and proposals.
Tracks, analyzes, and reports business development activities in a timely manner, including new member growth, penetration, and profitability, in order to fulfill and support the business development objectives and strategic initiatives of Valley Strong through its Business Development Plan.
Develops and recommends strategies, to foster outstanding community and business relationships and increased membership within the designated region.
Ensure consistent and regular visits, and communication with surrounding schools/occupational groups as outlined by Business Development.
Identifies the business development needs of the region in regard to high-profile advertising opportunities and participation in charitable/community events and communicates these needs to the Marketing and Business Development Department.
Participates in activities and provides feedback to Marketing and Business Development Department as requested.
OPERATIONS - 25% Maintain efficient operations and cost controls.
Track analyze and report progress towards branch growth targets. Meet and/or exceed branch targets for loan production, investment referrals, deposit, and new account growth.
Ensure compliance with all State/Federal regulations and all Credit Union policies and procedures.
Directs and coordinates activities to implement Credit Union's policies, procedures, and practices concerning granting consumer credit and real estate loans.
Reviewing and analyzing loan applications, evaluating, and analyzing tax returns as necessary, ordering credit reports, verifying information, calculating necessary figures, and referring loans to the Underwriting Department for approval.
Monitor procedures for custody and control of assets, records, loan collateral, and securing building to ensure safekeeping.
Selects, evaluates, disciplines, and terminates employees.
Attends and participates in periodic management meetings, various committee meetings, and outside conferences and workshops.
Must be able to pass various background checks. This includes the California criminal background check that allows team member to sell certain insurance products.
Act as the Security Officer for the branch office.
Perform related duties as required.

Manages a staff of less than 5 team members. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Credit Union's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess cashiering and lending experience and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees, members, management, and the Board of directors, as well as the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Knowledge of Credit Union's operational and lending policies, procedures, regulations, and organizational structure. Knowledge of Credit Union data processing system. Ability to organize, prioritize, and direct the work of others. Ability to be bonded.
Requires daily monitoring of transactions from compliance with Valley Strong Credit Union's Anti-Money Laundering Program. This monitoring will include, at a minimum, completion of currency transaction forms when required, proper recordkeeping when issuing official checks or money orders, and Office of Foreign Asset Control verifications as necessary. In addition, the reporting of any activity that falls within the Suspicious Activity Report criteria.
Must comply with all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and other Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Laws and Regulations, as they pertain to federal guidelines and internal policies and procedures.
