Job SummaryThe Internal Communications Strategy and Operations Director will work to elevate the contributions of Internal Communications by promoting operational excellence and boosting strategic impact. This includes further building BDO’s internal communications approach and content strategy, leading key efforts to improve and increase the value of internal communications across the firm and facilitating a strategic operations approach. This role will work closely with the Senior Director, Internal Communications, the Internal Communications Channel Strategist, and other members of the Internal Communications team to achieve shared goals.Job DutiesCommunicationsOversees content and editorial strategy, along with internal messaging and narrative, to increase engagement and understanding of company strategies and initiatives; contributes to strategic communications writing and reviews high-priority content for message strength, impact, risks, etc.Advances the development of internal communications channels and strategies.Helps manage internal communications measurement framework to evaluate performance and provide recommendations for improvement; includes educating and informing stakeholders on the value of internal communication efforts and activities.Ensures the team’s operational effectiveness by promoting project and resource management, more effective workflows and workloads, increased standardization of processes and facilitating cross-team collaboration and alignment.Provides guidance in developing communications strategies and plans; leads communications planning, as needed.Leads strategic projects that elevate Internal Communications’ contributions, leveraging team resources and involving appropriate stakeholders across the firm.Ensures communications efforts across the team are aligned, consistent and directionally correct; seeks opportunities to promote internal communications best practices with stakeholders and tap into synergies across business line internal communications programs.Contributes to key cross-business line communications efforts.Collaborates with the external and brand communications teams to ensure awareness and alignment.Provides crisis communications support.Fosters a positive and proactive mindset, focused on continuous improvement, across the team.Other duties, as required.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesManages core group of team members who provide cross-functional support.Supports the personal and professional growth of the team.Acts as career advisor to associates, senior associates and managers.EducationQualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Bachelor’s degree, required.Focus in Communications, Journalism or Marketing, preferred.ExperienceTen (10) or more years of experience in professional services and/or communications in progressive leadership roles; experience supporting C-level communications, required.Three (3) or more years of people management experience, required.License/CertificationN/ASoftwareProficient in the use of Microsoft 365, required.Experience with content management systems, preferred.Experience in Airtable, preferred.LanguageN/AOther Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesExceptional writer, editor and communications strategist.Strong background in business writing and content strategy, with knowledge of AP style.A strategic thinker with excellent content development skills, who can synthesize complex information into simple, high-impact messages; keen eye for design/formatting to make content more consumable.Driven self-starter with a proactive approach.Exceptional project management skills.Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines, managing multiple priorities effectively.A flexible team player, comfortable working both collaboratively and independently.Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to providing high-quality work.Excellent communication and networking skills with the ability to effectively manage and influence senior leaders as well as professionals across all levels of the organization.Knowledge of the internal communications landscape, including strategies and tactics and their application in a professional services organization.Strong executive presence and business acumen.Excellent verbal communicator; ability to present and facilitate.Comfortable sharing opportunities and recommendations with a variety of audiences.Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.National Range: $140,000 – $165,000California Range: $140,000 – $165,000Colorado Range: $140,000 – $165,000NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $140,000 – $165,000Washington Range: $140,000 – $165,000Washington DC Range: $140,000 – $165,000About UsJoin us at BDO, where you will find more than a career, you’ll find a place where your work is impactful, and you are valued for your individuality.
