Position Overview

The International School of San Francisco is seeking a dynamic experienced Assistant Principal for our Lower School to join our community, under the direct support of the Lower School Principal. The position will begin October 21, 2024 and will last through the middle of April 2025, with a possible extension. You will be nurturing a positive learning environment for all students, supporting and collaborating with the Lower School faculty, and communicating with families about student progress and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

Execute the policies and programs directed by the Lower School Principal.

Assist in overseeing and supervising all operations of the Lower School bilingual program.

Support the Lower School office with the day-to-day business of running the school including, but not limited to, student discipline, orientation events, admissions events, field trips, safety and security, and substitute teachers.

Supervise the particular functions of any curricular, learning support and counseling classes and students’ progress. Oversee and monitor the performance of the teachers, counselors and specialists to whom responsibilities have been delegated.

Exercise responsibility together with the Lower School Principal and other members of the Leadership Team for developing and implementing the following:

Development, implementation and critical review of educational policy, programs, curriculum content and performance by Lower School faculty.

Development and maintenance of a strong sense of collaboration and community among the Lower School students, faculty, staff and parents.

Attend and supervise school, afterschool, evening and weekend school-sponsored events and activities as assigned.

Build positive relationships with students, staff and families.

Commit to work in an inclusive and diverse community.

Communicate effectively with parents, in person and in writing.

Demonstrate empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting the holistic development of students.

Promote The International School of San Francisco mission and values.

Qualifications

Demonstrate effective leadership skills.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.

Apply and explain rules, regulations and standard policies and procedures.

Establish and maintain supportive effective working relationships with others.

Work independently with little guidance and supervision.

Fluency in English is required, knowledge of French preferred.

Must understand US independent school culture.

Five years successful teaching experience; International experience desirable.

Bachelor’s degree, Masters preferred.

Salary Range for this position is $100,000 - $115,000 pro-rated for the length of the Interim position.

Must be eligible to work in the US.
