Position Summary:
The Senior Operations Manager oversees the day-to-day activities of directing, controlling and coordinating all phases of more than one department for a large-scale Distribution Center with complex cross dock operations for the departments such as: Warehouse, Transportation, 3rd party distributors, off-site storage facilities, Inventory, etc. This position may oversee Merchandising in some locations.
Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
Partner with various departments to ensure timely and accurate loading of all distribution equipment in an efficient and cost-effective manner
Collaborate with various departments to build weekly/monthly volume and demand planning forecast to coordinate volume forecast with logistics and/or supply chain planning team(s)
Manage execution of day-to-day Distribution Center operations within parameters of both labor and operating expense budgets
Assist in the selection, supervision, and development of the Distribution Center team
Oversee the Merchandising team in some locations as appropriate
Establish the analysis of daily/weekly key performance indicators (KPI’s)
Maintain collaborative relationships with all departments in order to achieve goals and provide customer satisfaction
Adhere to Company standards, policies, and all regulatory requirements
Manage and implement company initiatives to achieve performance, quality and safety metrics
Lead the improvement of processes and drive enhanced levels of efficiency
Ensure the safeguard and security of company assets
Ensure teamwork and alignment to guarantee a culture of synergy, engagement and transparency
Other projects or duties as assigned
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 8 plus years of consumer products and/or direct store delivery experience with 4 plus years of people leadership experience or HS Diploma/GED with 11 plus years of consumer products and/or direct store delivery experience with 5 plus years of people leadership experience
Ability to manage multiple projects of varying priorities at the same time
Strong sense of urgency
Result-driven mindset
Excellent follow up and follow through skills
Self-motivated, organized and disciplined
Excellent teamwork skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills
Problem solver and solutions oriented with the ability to propose new solutions and/or resolve operational issues
Experience working in a fast-paced environment
Experience managing a P&L
Familiarity with DOT regulations
Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements
Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills i.e., Word, Excel, Power Point
Experience with SAP, Dematic/ProTrack, Engineered Labor Standards (ELS) and/or GreenMile applications
Flexibility to work any shift as needed
Travel up to 20%
This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Master’s degree
5 plus years of experience leading in a union environment
Multiple facility management experience
