Registered Nurse ICU

Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: SICU/MICU Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7:00 pm, 12 hr Nights - 36 hrs per week Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Minimum of 2 years ICU experience with Cerner (EMR) experience required for first-time travelers; Travelers with 1-year experience not accepted License: Registered Nurse Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: - Vent maintenance - Trach care - Chest tube - A-line - Medication titration Job Description: - Work in a unit with 12 beds specializing in critical care, including surgical heart failure, COPD, post-op GI, colon resection, fem-pop, carotids, and vascular surgeries - Maintain a patient ratio of 1:2, occasionally 1:3 - Collaborate with support staff including CNA (1:12 ratio), receptionists (days only), charge nurses (occasionally in assignments), phlebotomists, and IV/VAT team - Provide care under hospitalist and intensivist supervision - Required to read/measure telemetry strips - Use technology such as Cerner EMR, Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors - May float to like units as needed (ICU-MS task or limit of 3, ICU-ER/ICU holds) - New hires receive 12 weeks orientation on the unit; travelers with 1 year of experience receive 24 hours in a sim lab and 24 hours on the unit - Participate in a weekend rotation every other weekend or work 4 weekend days per month if on block schedule - Expected to work one major winter and summer holiday per policy; schedules will not automatically guarantee time off for these dates prior to arrival - Note the following requests to take time off are blacked out: Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Valentine's Day week, Spring Break, Easter weekend, Mother's Day weekend, Memorial Day, Father's Day weekend, Fourth of July, Labor Day weekend, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the Christmas/New Year's period
