Job Title: Safety and Fleet Specialist

Location: Shelbyville, IN

$20 to $25 per hour depending on experience

Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Safety and Fleet Specialist to join our team in Shelbyville, IN. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the safety protocols and fleet operations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and promoting a safe working environment. This role is crucial to maintaining the efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance of our fleet, while also driving continuous improvement in our safety practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fleet Management: Oversee the daily operations of the company's vehicle fleet, including maintenance schedules, inspections, and repairs to ensure vehicles are safe, roadworthy, and compliant with regulations.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local safety regulations, including DOT, OSHA, and FMCSA guidelines.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess risks related to fleet operations and workplace safety, and implement effective solutions to minimize accidents and incidents.
  • Training: Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, focusing on driving safety, fleet operations, and workplace hazards.
  • Accident Investigations: Lead investigations into any vehicle accidents or safety incidents, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions are taken to prevent future occurrences.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of fleet maintenance, safety inspections, and training certifications. Prepare and submit necessary reports related to fleet performance and safety compliance.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with third-party service providers, including maintenance vendors, insurance companies, and safety consultants.
  • Continuous Improvement: Develop and implement strategies to improve fleet efficiency, reduce operational costs, and enhance safety protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fleet management, transportation, or safety management, preferably in a manufacturing or logistics environment.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Occupational Safety, or a related field preferred.
  • Certifications: Relevant safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 30, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or DOT certifications) are a plus.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, fleet maintenance best practices, and safety management systems.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and influence employees at all levels.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
