Cost Accountant

Exciting opportunity with a returning client here in the far South Columbus area. My client is looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to join their accounting team as they continue to grow in revenue. The Cost Accountant is responsible for managing and maintaining the cost accounting system, incorporating an understanding of manufacturing operations and generally accepted accounting practices. This position will take direction with general supervision from the CFO and requires interaction with all levels of the organization.

Objectives and tasks of this role

• A key member of EPICOR ERP implementation team, become the super user.
• Reviews and posts manufacturing accounting entries.
• Reviews cost and variance trends; researches significant variations and recommends appropriate responses.
• Prepares daily operating performance analysis; including inventory movements, sales, and cost of goods sold, to identify significant issues in a timely fashion.
• Review new BOMs and Routers submitted for cost freeze for accuracy.
• Performs monthly inventory valuation and reconciliation of cost ledgers.
• Evaluate and approve cost review requests, including operating impact analysis.
• Process CAPEX requests, tracking spend, and capitalize assets as required.
• Performs data analysis as required to perform job duties or as requested by management staff.
• Prepares and monitors operating forecasts based on budgets. Review significant variations and analyze operating impact.
• Establishes labor and overhead rates in line with operating budgets.
• Performs annual cost roll and inventory revaluation. Works with purchasing and operations management to enhance the accuracy of cost components.
• Assists other employees with information and analysis when requested.
• Demonstrates understanding, support, and consistent application of our Vision, Mission, and Core Values.
• Other duties as assigned

Required skills and qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or any related field.
• 5+ years supporting a manufacturing business.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• 4+ years of Cost accounting
  
• Must be self-directed and able to stay on task without constant supervision
• 4+ years using ERP systems -EPICOR experience preferred.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
• Strong communication skills, organized and detail-oriented
