We have partnered with our real estate development client in their search for a Director of Accounting & Finance.
Director of Accounting & Finance Job Functions:
Financial Accounting and Reporting:
- Assist in overseeing the closing of the books for all entities
- Review ledgers and other records for appropriateness
- Review the draws for funds under lending relationships, ensuring compliance with requirements
- Supervise, aid in or perform the creation of financial statements and other reports
Audit Liaison and Support:
- Assist Partners in the selection of audit firms
- Negotiate audit engagement agreements
- Primary contact for audit firms during the engagements
- Draft, or supervise drafting, of audited financial statements, including footnotes for auditors' review
- Ensure delivery of audited financial statements to appropriate recipients
Income Tax Planning and Consultation:
- Consult on tax planning and structuring for all entities to ensure optimal tax treatment of transactions
Treasury and Banking, Cash Management:
- Maintain banking relationships with relevant banks, including opening and closing accounts, ensuring online access, remote deposit and other services
- Oversee cash positions of all entities, request additional funding when required and propose and accomplish cash distributions when appropriate
- Initiate wire transfers when needed (second approval by another)
- Sign all checks, after reviewing all supporting documentation
Risk Management
- Maintain Insurance Program for the enterprise, including selecting appropriate coverages, negotiating policy terms and premiums and ensuring compliance with Partner and Lender requirements
Qualifications & Experience for the Director of Accounting & Finance:
- Bachelor's degree with Accounting or Finance specialization. MBA is a plus.
- CPA certification
- Minimum 15+ years of GAAP accounting experience, most preferably with at least 4+ years of public accounting experience.
- Background in tax
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills, including identifying and accomplishing needed guidance, training, corrective action and other supervisory functions for the professional staff
- Advancement to CFO within 2+ years.
- Long-term established relationships with vendors.

Salary: $150k - $200k plus bonus
