Job DetailsWe are looking for a Revenue Compliance Specialist responsible for processing, filing, and ensuring the timely payment of all state and federal royalties and taxes, including amendments. This role requires collaboration with auditors, consultants, and internal teams. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in oil and gas accounting, with a strong understanding of reporting requirements specific to New Mexico.
Responsibilities:
Accurately process, file, and pay state (New Mexico) and federal royalties, including any necessary amendments
Manage the filing and payment of state severance taxes and related amendments in New Mexico
Stay updated on NMOGA guidelines and communicate any changes that could impact the business
Prepare monthly reconciliations for state and federal royalty and severance tax accounts
Collaborate with severance tax consultants to ensure compliance and maximize available deductions
Process, file, and document all severance tax exemptions and deductions
Work closely with land and regulatory teams to ensure timely lease setups with state and federal entities and proper filing for deductions
Prepare monthly severance tax analyses for financial close processes
Lead state or federal audits, coordinating with various departments to provide necessary documentation, responding promptly to audit findings, and keeping all stakeholders informed of audit progress
Ensure adherence to existing SOX controls
Provide support for special projects and perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent experience
Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in oil and gas revenue accounting, including state severance tax and federal royalty reporting in New Mexico
Experience with Quorum accounting software is preferred but not required
