Job Details

Our company is seeking a highly qualified Corporate Counsel. This role will be responsible for providing legal advice and guidance on a wide range of corporate matters, including property and casualty claims. The successful candidate will play a key role in advising on legal issues, conducting legal research, and ensuring the company's compliance with laws and regulations. The Corporate Counsel will be a strategic partner to the business, providing sound and reasonable business and legal advice.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide legal counsel and support to executive leadership on a wide range of corporate, strategic, and legal matters.
  2. Manage all aspects of property and casualty claims, including negotiation, settlement, and litigation.
  3. Develop and implement corporate legal strategy in line with company goals.
  4. Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements, including contracts, leases, and vendor agreements.
  5. Ensure the company's compliance with all laws, regulations, and corporate policies.
  6. Provide legal advice and guidance on risk management and liability.
  7. Collaborate with other departments to manage and mitigate legal risks and to ensure business practices are in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  8. Conduct and coordinate research into a variety of legal issues.
  9. Represent the company in legal proceedings.
  10. Provide training to company and its affiliates on substantive legal topics.

Qualifications:

  1. Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  2. Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Corporate Counsel or similar role.
  3. Extensive experience with property and casualty claims is required.
  4. Must be licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
  5. Excellent negotiation, research, and communication skills.
  6. Strong understanding of corporate law and legal principles, including a strong understanding of property and casualty law.
  7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  8. Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies.
  9. High degree of professional ethics, integrity and gravitas.
  10. Excellent judgement and ability to analyze situations and information objectively, and make sound decisions quickly.
  11. Experience in managing outside counsel to achieve favorable outcomes.
