Accounting Manager - Hybrid in Silver Spring, MD
Overview of the Accounting Manager Role:
- CFS is partnering with a top client, a non profit located in Silver Spring, MD to find an Accounting Managerto join their team on a contract to hire basis
- For the right candidate, this position will become permanent!
- Schedule: Position is hybrid: 2-3 days in office (Tuesday and Wednesday in office)- 35 hour work week!
- Candidates must be local to the DMV
- Office is metro accessible (Silver Spring metro stop via red line) and MARC accessible
- Hours are very flexible; start as early as 7:30am or as late as 9am

Job Duties of the Accounting Manager:
- Perform month-end close including bank reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger account reconciliations
- Monitor and review accounts receivable, payable, and payroll for accuracy
- Assist in preparation of budgets and grant applications to federal agencies
- Ensure proper recording of expenses to various grants
- Monitor sub-recipients and consultants and ensuring accurate contract spend
- Update budget to actual reports
- Prepare all work papers for annual financial audit, ensuring compliance with Uniform Guidance, and review the completed financial statements for accuracy
- Prepare and review all work papers for 990 tax filing
- Prepare 1099s for filing
- Review government billing
- Compile monthly financial reporting and weekly drawdowns to federal agencies
- Develop and update procedures to increase efficiency in organization
- Supervise team of 2-3 in accounting
Qualifications for the Accounting Manager:
- Bachelors degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related AND CPA required
- 7+ years' accounting experience
- Background in government contracting and knowledge of federal grants, contracts, and billing preferred
- Deltek Costpoint and/or Concur software a plus, but not required
- Proficiency in Excel preferred (ability to do pivot tables and vlookup a plus)
- Supervisory experience preferred
