Role and Responsibilities

Crane Operator :

Responsible for operation, setup and daily/weekly maintenance of assigned equipment.

The Crane Operator is responsible for understanding all functions of the assigned crane equipment and directing the proper setup of equipment in the correct configuration to perform lifting functions safely and within the rated capacity of the assigned crane equipment. Crane Operators must show leadership when directing supporting mobilization crews including oilers (apprentices), riggers, signalpersons and truck drivers during the setup, operation, dismantle and hauling of assigned crane equipment.

Qualifications and Education Requirements?

NCCCO or equivalent ANSI/ASME accredited crane operator certification

5+ years operating experience on mobile hydraulic cranes preferred

Florida Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) or equivalent reciprocal licenseOSHA 10 Hour Construction Safety Training

Preferred Skills and Safety Training

NCCCO Rigger Level 1 or equivalent training from an ANSI/ASME accredited programNCCCO Signalperson or equivalent training from an ANSI/ASME accredited programMSHA Surface Mining Part 46 Safety TrainingOSHA 30 Hour Construction Safety TrainingTransportation Workers Identification Credentials (TWIC) CardElectrical Worker Training

Additional Responsibilities:

Customer focused attitude and problem solving skillsMust make wise and knowledgeable decisions to maintain safe work practices at all timesAppear on-time and dressed ready for work dailyMaintain, Lubricate and Clean assigned equipment regularlyCoordinate all work in the field with Sims sales team, dispatch, and client representativesDirect and monitor apprentices assigned to the Journeyman's supervisionComplete daily/weekly inspection logs as required by FDOT, OSHA and the Sims Crane safety departmentFuel equipment upon return to the Sims Crane yard at the end of each dayMust have customer sign work authorization tickets prior to commencement of work dailyLoading and preparing all special rigging and crane accessories or tools required dailyReport all accidents or safety concerns to the branch manager or safety department

Additional Notes

This position requires frequent walking, standing, and bending.

Must be fit for duty, able to navigate the jobsite and must comply with all company safety requirements and site specific safety rules on the jobsite.
