**Job Title:** Registered Nurse - PCU
**Job Specialty:** Intermediate Care Unit
**Job Duration:** 26 weeks
**Shift:** 7P-7A, 12-hour night shifts
**Guaranteed Hours:** 48 hours per week
**Experience:** 1 year of Intermediate/PCU level care experience or 2 years with Med/Surg experience including some PCU
**License:** Registered Nurse
**Certifications:** BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (AACCN and CCRN preferred)
**Must-Have:** Charge experience is preferred as well as experience with trauma, strokes, Q2H neuro checks, high-flow O2, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and cardiac/insulin drip management.
**Job Description:**
- Work in a Level II Trauma Center- Provide patient care for trauma, neuro, medical/surgical, respiratory, and cardiac cases- Treat patients with cardiac conditions such as STEMI, NSTEMI, CHF, AFIB with RVR- Manage surgical and respiratory illnesses, including COVID, pneumonia, and COPD exacerbations- Perform and manage procedures related to ventilator support, tracheotomy care, and suctioning- Handle biochemical treatments including temporary pacemakers and post-femoral sheath care- Administer and titrate cardiac drips and insulin- Maintain ratios of 1:3-4 during both day and night shifts- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including CNAs, RT, and ICU-trained support staff- Utilize Cerner for electronic charting and operate medical equipment like Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensers- Float to ED, ICU, and CCU for intermediate assignments as needed- Participate in general hospital orientation and one day of unit-specific training- Engage in a regular weekend rotation and adhere to holiday expectations based on unit needs- Maintain professional appearance with appropriate scrub colors
