Objective of the Role:

As an essential part of our leadership team, the VP of Finance will work closely with the President & CEO to shape and guide our financial strategy and operations, supporting our mission and growth. This role is key in ensuring thorough financial planning, precise reporting, and adherence to regulatory standards. Additionally, the VP of Finance will nurture a culture of financial responsibility and continuous improvement across all departments. By collaborating with senior leaders, the VP of Finance will help develop and implement a comprehensive 5-year revenue growth plan, refine cost accounting systems, and uphold strong internal controls to protect our financial well-being.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with the President & Executive Director and senior leadership, ensuring financial strategies are not just about growth, but about sustaining and nurturing the heart of our community work.
  • Develop and implement a 5-year financial roadmap that fosters long-term financial health and enhances our ability to serve, grow, and uplift the community.
  • Provide thoughtful, mission-driven financial insights that empower leadership to make decisions that reflect both fiscal responsibility and compassion for the people we serve.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of daily financial tasks, such as payables, receivables, and payroll, so that every dollar entrusted to us is used with care to advance our community-centered mission.
  • Oversee systems for invoicing, receipts, and reconciliation with a focus on transparency and accountability, ensuring our finances remain a foundation for trust in our center.
  • Develop cost management systems that reflect our responsibility to maximize the impact of our resources, keeping our community's well-being at the forefront of every financial decision.
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring that every financial plan is crafted with the future of our programs and the needs of our community in mind.
  • Prepare and present accurate financial statements that not only meet legal standards but also reflect our commitment to ethical stewardship and accountability.
  • Oversee the annual audit with a dedication to upholding the highest standards of integrity, ensuring that our center remains a beacon of trust and transparency for all stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain strong internal financial controls that protect the resources our community depends on, ensuring that every investment supports our mission to serve.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and HR to ensure compliance with evolving regulations, balancing the need for security with a deep sense of care for the people who rely on us.
  • Stay informed about changes in financial policies and risks, using this knowledge to safeguard our ability to continue serving the community with resilience and foresight.
  • Lead with compassion and intention, guiding the finance team to not only excel in their roles but to understand the deep impact their work has on the lives touched by our center.
  • Foster a culture where financial accountability is shared by all and seen as part of our broader responsibility to our community, promoting continuous growth and improvement.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Advanced Degree:?A bonus!
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial management experience, preferably in a non-profit setting.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
