SUMMARY:The Quality Assurance Supervisor assures the compliance to company, customer, regulatory and consumer quality requirements. The Quality Assurance Supervisor directs the Quality Assurance Technician staff in the Quality Assurance department and provides leadership in managing quality systems for the production of food products at the Faribault site. The Quality Assurance Supervisor will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws including: interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Directly supervise all Quality Assurance Technicians within the Quality Department.
  • Conducts plant audits to ensure conformance to company quality standards.
  • Be part of the HACCP committee and assist in quarterly HACCP verifications.
  • Develops and refines plant measurement techniques, including documentation of testing procedure, identification of sample points, frequency of data collection, record keeping, and data analysis.
  • Provides leadership in the resolution of plant quality issues conferring with QA techs, production personnel, maintenance, engineering, and research and development.
  • Training and implementation of Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques in plant procedures.
  • Review and ensure compliance with plant GMPs, sanitation and pest control procedures.
  • Maintain written product specifications on all products, and plant compliance.
  • Performs daily quality evaluations including flavor, color and texture of daily production.
  • Executes daily production record review as needed.
  • Provides a resource for the investigation and follow up to ingredient and supplier issues.
  • Assist with training of new and existing employees on food safety and quality programs.
  • Provide support and training to production employees regarding Quality Assurance procedures within production department.
  • Review and verify production calibration file for (TID pressure gauges, etc....)...assist in resolution of any deviations.
  • Ensure laboratory equipment is properly calibrated and functioning within specified parameters.
  • Assist with annual Glass/Plastic audit, metal detector timing, and magnet strength tests, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Resolution of foreign material reports.
  • Work as liaison for NCMR process in resolution of issues.
  • Coordinate training and evaluate new hires, ensure that evaluations are prepared and conducted.
  • Maintain and ensure the safety of all employees through proper training, enforcement of safety rules and following proper procedures.
  • Know company policies and enforce them effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable statutes and regulations governing employees.
  • Develop and implement leadership development and coaching plans for subordinates.
  • Prepare performance evaluations for subordinates.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Better Process and Control School
Experience:
  • 3-5 years' experience in the food manufacturing industry.
  • 2-3 years of Quality Assurance experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years Supervisory experience.
  • Knowledgeable in meat and poultry inspection
  • SQF, BRC, ISO 22000 or ISO 9001 experience a plus
Skills:
  • Sound Supervisory skills with a history of success stories in a leadership role.
  • Self-motivated and willing to learn.
  • Statistics & process control understanding and execution
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office suite.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
RELATIONSHIPS:
  • Reports to Quality Assurance Manager
  • Works closely with Manufacturing and Maintenance
  • In the event of an absence, the duties of this position will be covered by the Quality Assurance Manager who has successfully been trained on the functions.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach, stretch, stoop, bend, use hands and fingers and climb stairs. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. This job requires the employee to be able to read, write and communicate verbally in English. The employee must be able to hear and have color vision.
