Directs a comprehensive marketing program for the University of Houston; coordinates related university-wide activities. Responsible for the development and implementation of strategic marketing and operating plans; directs a team of marketing professionals to support the marketing needs of the university.

Responsibilities

Directs a comprehensive marketing program, including research strategy and execution, designed to support the university's strategic goals and objectives.

Develops and implements strategic marketing and operating plans to advance the university; directs university-wide marketing, branding and image building campaigns and efforts to increase awareness and enhance the overall university image.

Oversees market research efforts for the university.

Directs and participates in other university marketing activities, including strategic planning, market research and organizational effectiveness initiatives.

Directs university-wide training, development and resources for campus network of marketing and communications professionals; engages and educates the campus community on marketing initiatives, messages, etc.

Develops processes, systems and tools for university colleges, divisions and departments for the development and implementation of marketing plans and initiatives.

Directs departmental operations, including management of staff, planning and administration of budget and resources.

Provides leadership and serves as a resource for the university regarding successful marketing activities, techniques and methods; stays abreast of best practices in integrated marketing, brand messaging and current market trends in higher education, and translates that understanding into successful strategic marketing for the university.

Directs the strategic marketing, branding and content of the university web site.

Performs other job-related duties as required.

QualificationsBachelors and 5 years experience

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience.

Collaborate closely with Creative Services team to execute marketing plans, content strategy and media placement.

Develop content and messaging strategy and partner across Division to align messaging.

Manage agency partners day to day and provide direction and guidance for initiatives.

Help maintain timeline and key milestones for major initiatives.
