The Director, Channels reports to the Chief Marketing Officer and is one of three senior leaders of the Canadian Clients and Markets team.
The mandate of this role is to enable and innovate all of the firms channels to market. The role will ensure the firm is able to take messages to market in the appropriate channel to target specific audiences (internal or external) in an effective and impactful way. Best practices, innovation and a proactive approach are all key elements of the role. The role will develop and maintain tools and processes to win and expand relationships in the targeted areas and report on the outcome of the appropriate channel.
The ideal candidate would have worked in an agency environment or has created an internal agency at a professional services firm with an in-house team that teams with agencies and has a strong customer service focus. The ultimate goal of this role is to create a high-functioning internal agency, supported by strong external agency relationships to drive go-to-market campaigns forward.

You will be focusing on:
Communications: internal & external (PR/media & social media)
- Responsible for growing the firm's profile by implementing an effective communication strategy that includes relations with the media, internal communications initiatives and optimizing our existing social media platforms and website.
- This role has a high degree of accountability for providing editorial direction and oversight for the communications and media relations programs for NRFC. This includes establishing proper processes and cadence to communications across multiple channels (internal and external).
- Define and drive a comprehensive multi-year communications strategy that differentiates the firm.
- Drive differentiated communications campaigns to support our position as a leading law firm in Canada as well as supporting business goals and objectives.
- Manage firm communications by establishing and maintaining an effective editorial calendar.
Events: virtual and in person
- Responsible for developing an event strategy and vision that aligns with the firm's long-term strategic objectives.
- Ensure all client-facing events meet the firm's standards, objectives, and deadlines.
- Lead the events team that plans, organizes, and delivers large-scale client events, webinars, conferences and receptions.
- Ensure all event logistics (venues, catering, transportation, AV needs, etc.) are handled effectively.
- Manage negotiations, review contracts, and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and agencies.
- Monitor and report on financial performance; ensuring all events stay within financial parameters.
- Establish performance metrics, analyze data on attendee engagement, satisfaction, and ROI, overseeing detailed reports on event outcomes.
Creative, brand & digital: brand programs, web/SEO, designers & video
- As brand ambassador, lead the design and digital teams and ensure the successful implementation of high-profile national and regional branding campaign.
- Ensure a cohesive and consistent brand presence across all digital touchpoints (website, social media, email, apps, etc.).
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a creative, brand and digital team
- Provide creative direction on all digital campaigns, ensuring high-quality output and adherence to brand guidelines.
- Oversee the creation of digital marketing assets, including videos, graphics, and interactive media.
- Spearhead projects that expand the digital footprint, conceptualize and oversee the execution of digital marketing campaigns that engage target audiences.
- Utilize data analytics to measure the success of digital campaigns and initiatives, driving continuous improvement.
- Ensure synergy between creative content and technical performance for optimal digital experiences.
- Lead efforts to explore new technologies for enhancing brand engagement and customer interaction.
Leadership & Management of Clients & Markets
- Oversee team's performance and provide guidance and support to each member.
- Maintain accurate reporting and data to show the impact of each channel.
- Deploy channel marketing strategies in collaboration with the marketing team, senior managers, directors, and other departments.
- Function as a subject matter expert in the areas of digital marketing, brand, communications, and event management.
- Oversee all agency-related activities and processes.
- Continually monitor trends, innovative technology solutions, techniques and competitive strategies and translate into creative ideas for client outreach.
- Develop new channel marketing strategies and implement marketing plans and editorial calendar.
- Collaborate and develop relationships with fee earners, internal business services and agencies to understand the feasibility of cross-channel recommendations.
- Drive quantifiable impact. Identify key data points and measurements to show the impact of our approach and strategy on the client's business.
- Evaluate, develop and lead a high-performing national channels team of 11 members (including guidance for career and skills development)
What you bring to the role:
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge of channel marketing strategies.
- A minimum of 15+ years of experience in business-to-business marketing, communications and/or business development, preferably in the professional services industry.
- Experience with applied knowledge of market positioning, campaign development and execution, client engagement, marketing technology and digital marketing.
- Experience participating in substantial projects with large teams, either from project inception to implementation or involving significant performance demonstrating collaboration, critical thinking, and project management skills.
- Organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Proactive and collaborative attitude with true understanding of the agility needed to capitalize on the changing market conditions.
- Strong track record of providing effective counsel to executive leadership and generating buy-in and trust at all levels of the organization.
- Bring energy and passion to build the capabilities of the communication function to align with NRFC's strategy.
- Ability to understand how to deliver integrated messages to a wide variety of audiences with varying levels of knowledge about the firm.
- Bilingual would be considered a strong asset.
