Description
Under general supervision, performs a wide range of field and office duties in support of the care and control of domestic and non-domestic animals, care and maintenance of animals within the animal shelter, other public inspections; and performs related work as required.

Enforces City animal control laws and regulations, issues citations for animal-related violations, interacts with the public and explains City ordinances related to the care of animals; conducts patrols in assigned areas, responds to calls for assistance or service, removes and disposes of deceased animals. Assists in conducting educational programs and training for public and coordinates with other agencies to provide assistance, care, and management of animals and protected species. Performs all other aspects of assignment including, chemical immobilization, capture, and transport of animals; humanely euthanizes animals as required, maintains logs and records of substances, investigates reports of animal bites and quarantines animals as necessary; investigates reports of animal cruelty, performs seizure or trapping of animals as necessary, completes and submits all required reports. Conducts field investigations of potential violations; gathers evidence; interviews witnesses; compares facts to code requirements; makes findings and issues warnings, correction notices, or citations. Maintains a variety of logs and records related to inspection and enforcement activities; maintains assigned vehicle and equipment; maintains shelter supplies. Provide care for animals in the Shelter including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring animal behavior. Monitor conditions of animals and implement precautionary measures to prevent disease transmission. Clean and disinfect pens, floors, and related areas in accordance with established practices. Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule:Schedule varies Sunday-Saturday any time between 7am-6pm. 40 hours work week, 10 hours per day (days and times to be determined at a later date) On call duty as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Possess a valid driver's license. High school graduation or equivalent
One (1) year of experience in animal care, animal control, or related fields Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Special Requirements:Texas DSHS Animal Control Officer Certification
Texas DSHS Euthanasia Certification.
