Performs a variety of animal control functions; responds to public complaints regarding animal related issues; assists in enforcing animal control ordinances and regulations; participates in staffing and maintaining the City's Animal Shelter facility; provides for the care of sheltered animals; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Example of Duties:
Responds to public concerns and complaints regarding animals at large, animal welfare issues, and/or deceased animals.Participates in enforcing animal control laws and ordinances in relation to rabies vaccination enforcement and animal quarantine.Monitors for and investigates potential animal control violations involving nuisance animals, bite cases, and/or animal cruelty.Issues animal control warnings, notices, and/or citations to violators as warranted.Locates, traps, captures, and restrains injured, wild, and/or dangerous animals.Transports stray, lost, sick, and/or vicious animals to the City's animal shelter.Provides for the humane care and treatment of sheltered animals.May assist in vaccinating and/or euthanizing animals as required.Staffs the Animal Shelter's front desk and provides customer service in person and via telephone.Responds to public inquires regarding animal adoption processes, trap rentals, and/or other animal control related matters.Assists in cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining the City's Animal Shelter facilities.Prepares, updates, and maintains a variety of departmental records and reports.Performs other duties as assigned or required.Typical Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalentMinimum of one year demonstrated experience working with animals; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
