Cash Applications Analyst

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Cash Applications Analyst to join our growing construction company in Greenwood Village, Colorado. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing the day-to-day cash application functions, ensuring timely and accurate application of cash receipts. You will work closely with the accounts receivable and billing teams to reconcile payments, resolve discrepancies, and maintain accurate financial records. This position requires a high degree of accuracy, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately apply payments to customer accounts in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Reconcile daily cash receipts including checks, wire transfers, credit card payments, and ACH transactions.
  • Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, working with internal teams and customers as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of cash applications and generate regular reports for management review.
  • Assist in monthly close processes by ensuring all cash receipts are properly recorded and reconciled.
  • Collaborate with the Accounts Receivable, Billing, and Collections teams to ensure smooth financial operations.
  • Monitor and follow up on unapplied payments, unidentified cash, and payment variances.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of cash application workflows.
  • Provide support during internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, financial regulations, and industry standards.

Qualifications:

  • Experience
    Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in cash application, accounts receivable, or general accounting, preferably in the construction industry.

  • Technical Skills
    Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems).

  • Knowledge
    Strong understanding of cash application processes, accounts receivable, and general ledger reconciliation.

  • Analytical Skills
    Ability to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues in a timely manner.

  • Communication Skills
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with team members, customers, and management.

  • Organizational Skills
    Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the construction industry or with construction-specific accounting practices.
  • Familiarity with lien releases, payment applications, and project billing processes.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific software such as Viewpoint or Procore.
