Overview

International Architecture + Interiors studio is actively seeking a Senior Architect to join their San Francisco office. Winner of Design Awards from AIA, Architizer, and Architectural Record, this studio has been recognized for its contemporary and innovative take on urban modern design. Projects include Shangri-La hotels, Four Seasons, and cutting-edge multi-family residences with amenities such as clubs, rooftops & bars, in NYC and San Francisco. The team also works with tech companies such as Google, mixed-use urban developments, and adaptive reuse projects in metropolitan areas! To continue their growth, their San Francisco studio is seeking a Senior Architect with over 10 years of experience to provide leadership, technical, and design support for the firm's projects around the world, mainly focused in the hospitality & housing sector. The ideal candidate is adept in creating and developing a wide range of multi-family residential projects.

In this role, the successful candidate will be an integral player in the studio, working closely with the firm's leadership team on one or more projects. The Senior Architect will lead design teams from concept to documentation and construction administration. The successful candidate will also work alongside the firm's clients throughout all design phases.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a high-level client contact; maintain a positive and professional relationship with the client for the duration of the project
  • Coordinate contracts; recognize when contract scope has changed or been exceeded, and propose solutions to correct such situations
  • Assist the client with reviewing their budget, schedule, and other project goals. Communicate these goals to the full team, and be responsible for their implementation over the full duration of the project
  • Assemble consultant teams and in-house teams, leading the full team through all phases to project completion
  • Serve as a mentor for your team members, and potentially others in the office
  • Research, promote and implement new building systems
  • Oversee the company's financial performance on managed projects
  • Participate in firm management and leadership activities, such as: staffing resource allocation, performance reviews, business development, marketing, attending and speaking at events, and membership in professional and/or community organizations


Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have:

  • 10+ years of experience with all phases of architectural and interiors projects; large scale multi-family, hospitality and/or mixed-use experience preferred
  • Demonstrated success completing one or more buildings as a project architect
  • Professional degree in architecture
  • License required; California license preferred
  • Experience negotiating, executing and coordinating the architect's responsibilities under a contract
  • Understands basic risk management strategies, including protection of both the firm and the client
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience reporting to a project manager, and with their guidance, directing a team of architects, designers, and consultants on a day-to-day basis
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team, both in-house and out-of-house
  • Demonstrated success with making difficult decisions, especially in the presence of incomplete information or conflicting interests
  • Strong organizational and technical capability, including demonstrated experience with preparing, coordinating, and issuing drawing and specification submissions
  • Extensive experience with zoning and building codes, and entitlement and permit approvals. Experience with San Francisco or other California jurisdictions preferred
  • Revit proficiency
