We are actively searching for dedicated General Medicine providers to conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments (SHAs) for Veterans across the country. This locum tenens position offers a PRN (as-needed) schedule, allowing you to tailor your work hours to your availability.

What You'll Do:

  • Conduct comprehensive C&P exams and SHAs for Veterans, primarily focusing on an interview-based approach with some physical assessments (range of motion, muscle strength testing).
  • Analyze medical records and complete standardized forms within the VES provider portal.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure accurate assessments and timely reporting.
  • Complete follow-up administrative tasks such as addendums, medical opinions, and diagnostic reviews as required.

Who You Are:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree and board certification in General Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or a related specialty (or board eligibility) (preferred).
  • Current and active license to practice medicine in Iowa (required).
  • Familiarity with musculoskeletal, diabetes, and cardiovascular conditions (required).
  • Proficient in METs testing, evaluating, and diagnosing respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological conditions.
  • Comfort and experience with interview-based assessments (preferred).
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with Veterans.
  • Access to a personal laptop (excluding MACs).

Additional Notes:

  • New providers will be required to complete a training program on Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) and obtain a DMA certification (if not already certified).
  • DBQs must be submitted within 48 hours of exam completion.
