Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in Labor and Delivery (L&D) is responsible for evaluating and assisting physicians with patient care. The RN will plan, implement, and document nursing care based on patient needs, perform therapeutic interventions, and manage patient care in alignment with professional nursing practices. This role will not involve typical RN assignments but will focus on Patient Care Technician (PCT) responsibilities, including taking vitals and assisting the nursing staff.
Duties & Responsibilities:Evaluate patient needs, assess, plan, implement, and document individualized care plans.Perform therapeutic interventions and manage patient care.Advocate for evidence-based care standards.Assist the nursing team by taking vitals and providing additional support as needed.Skills & Experience:
Required: 1+ year of experience in related specialty.Preferred: Experience with IV insertions, IV pumps, blood draws, labor bed experience, PCA and epidural pumps, SCD machines, Pulse OX, and O2 setup.Patient Ratio:
1:2 - Maximum ratio 1:3.130-160 births per month, 40-60 C-sections per month.
Education:
Required: ASN.Preferred: BSN.Certifications & Licensure:
Required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NRP, and Certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM).Preferred: Scrub experience.Schedule:
Hours per week: 36 hoursDays per week: 5 daysHours per day: 8 hoursSchedule: 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM, every other weekend required. Holidays as needed.No on-call responsibilities.Minimum of 2 years of recent L&D experience required.
