Shift:Day 5x8-Hour (05:00 - 13:30)
Description:We are seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to join our team. To be eligible to apply, your permanent address must be greater than 100 miles from the most central facility , Columbus, Ohio 43215.
Location:Hospital - (Columbus, Ohio)
Position:Board certified Pathology Assistant (ASCP)
Shift:Weekend Days (Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon/Tue 0500-1330)
Minimum Qualifications:- Graduate of Accredited Anatomic Pathologist Assistant program
- ASCP certification
- Prefer 1-2 years of grossing experience
As a vital member of our team, you will be involved in the accurate and timely processing of a variety of laboratory specimens. Your responsibilities will include:
- Comprehensive macroscopic examination and evaluation of all surgical pathological specimens
- Case accessioning (when needed)
- Gross description and sampling of tissue specimens at all levels of complexity
- Evisceration and prosection of autopsies
- Compilation and dictation of preliminary autopsy diagnosis
- Preparation and collection of tissue for special studies
- Evaluation and sampling of tissues at the time of frozen section
- Cutting, staining, and cover slipping of frozen section tissue
- Photographing of surgical autopsy cases
- Opening/selection of tissue for The Cooperative Human Tissue Network (CHTN)
- Maintaining supplies of gross room/morgue
- Disposal of old specimens (when necessary)
- Identification and resolution of labeling/identification discrepancies
- Assisting other gross room staff (when appropriate)
- Assistance with procedural writing and updates (when appropriate)
All tasks are performed under the supervision level determined by the Pathologists' Assistant Supervisor or the Pathologist in charge of the gross room.
