Road Maintenance Technician II and III, Port Hadlock, WA

Jefferson County Public Works is seeking applicants for

Road Maintenance Technician II and III position(s) . Duties include using various trucks and equipment to repair pavement surfaces, clean ditches and culverts, plow snow, trim trees, cut brush and grass, etc. Job requires physical labor outdoors in varying weather conditions & after-hours callouts for emergency or storm-related events.

Minimum Qualifications:Individual needs to be able to perform this job successfully in each essential duty. The requirements are listed on the attached job description and are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Please see job description for full duties.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and Minimum of two (2) years' experience in road maintenance or construction work of a similar nature including two years' experience in truck driving or equipment operating or traffic control supervision; or, Minimum of two (2) years as a Road Maintenance Technician I; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid WA State CDL Class A is preferred but not required. CDL training may be provided.

Compensation: RMT II , Teamsters Grade A5-B position, starting pay typically $25.10 per hour, full pay range: $25.10 to $30.00 per hour. Full medical benefits, including dental and vision. Retirement provided through Washington State DRS. Plus 11 paid holidays, PTO, and bereavement leave. May include evening and weekend hours.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and Class A Commercial Driver's License without restrictions and one of the following: Four (4) years' experience in road-maintenance activities or substantially similar construction experience including both two years of operating commercial trucks and two years of operating equipment identified in the Essential Duties and Responsibilities Section of this job description or four years' operating either commercial trucks or equipment; or Two (2) years as a Road Maintenance Tech II; or, equivalent combination of education and experience.

Compensation: RMT III,

Teamsters Grade A5-C position, starting pay typically $27.67 per hour, range: $27.67 to $33.09 per hour. Full medical benefits, including dental and vision. Retirement provided through Washington State DRS. Plus 11 paid holidays, PTO, and bereavement leave. May include evening and weekend hours.

Road Maintenance Technicians help maintain 400 miles of roads that link the Jefferson County Community to homes, jobs, businesses, and recreational opportunities. The position is responsible for the labor, truck, and equipment operation necessary to perform various road maintenance tasks. Duties include:

Mowing county rights-of-waySnow and ice controlPatching roadsCleaning culvertsPerforming temporary traffic control (flagging)Removing treesPicking up litter

Applicants should also have the ability to work well in a team environment; have great communication and customer-service skills; and, be eager to work each day.

Work WeekMonday – Thursday or Tuesday – FridayWork shift is 6:00AM – 4:30PM
