Job SummaryDirect oversight of the policies and procedures surrounding the verification and eligibility process for Federal Student Aid (Title IV) and ensure they align with the Title IV regulations reporting of information to the U.S. Department of Education. Lead, manage and provide guidance to a functional team within the department. Contribute to the design, coordination, analysis and completion of research projects involving the Financial Aid Office.Essential DutiesSupervise Financial Aid department staff, including by organizing workflows and schedules, monitoring quantitative and qualitative output and staff effectiveness, and conducting performance evaluations; ensure staff have the tools needed to perform their jobs effectively.Process various student eligibility reports, including Suspense, Rejected ISIRs, Unusual Enrollment Agreements (UEH), and SAR C-Flags; knowledge of federal regulations regarding FAFSA, IRS tax codes, and US citizenship information.Maintain and update the verification and eligibility procedures and provide reporting.Participate in the development of department goals and objectives and find ways to strategically increase verification document intake.Provide factual information for Policy and Procedure development, review, and annual updating.Implement processes and protocols based on changes to federal regulations and the institutional need to maintain compliance with the U.S. Department of Education.Assist with annual FAFSA set-up and planning; research and provide updated information regarding FAFSA policies, strategies, and procedures.Establish tasks for the team and/or supervisors, organizing programs and processes, and setting priorities.Provide direct supervision and continuous performance feedback to team members.Ability to use leadership and management skills effectively; have knowledge of the key supervisory functions, operations and training principles.Identify and resolve operational issues that may fall outside of established guidelines.Resourcefulness and the ability to take initiative in planning work assignments and implementing long-range program improvements.Must have operational knowledge of U.S. Department of Education databases such as COD, NSLDS and FA Partners.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in behavioral sciences, Public Administration, Business Administration or related field. Degree requirement may be substituted with relevant and equivalent work experience.Three years in a college financial aid environment and supervisory experience.Knowledge of and experience of Title IV regulations.Operational knowledge of the Ellucian Banner student information system or similar financial aid software.Leadership and management skills; knowledge of the key supervision, operations and training principles and how they relate to the management of a complex, multi-staff environment.Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain a collaborative working environment.Ability to use data analysis and other relevant factors to resolve issues.Ability to work both in a collaborative working environment but also work independently.Ability to walk short distances within the campus.Ability to work for prolonged periods of time at a computer.
