In-personPosition Summary:The Manager, Tissue Recovery is responsible for the oversight of tissue recovery operations including but not limited to the recovery of eyes and tissues, digital donor status board management, staffing logistics, and case logistics. Ensures the department is adequately staffed and has the necessary tools/equipment/supplies to perform recoveries. Ensures the department follows applicable Policies & Procedures, standards, and regulations. Provides donation partners with appropriate customer service, meets routinely with tissue processors, and identifies areas of process improvement. Ensures Policies & Procedures are reflective of current processes. Performs all duties and responsibilities in compliance with OneLegacy policies and procedures, the standards and regulations as outlined by the FDA, AATB, EBAA, CMS, UNOS, and other applicable federal, state, and local laws.Duties & Responsibilities:Provides leadership, coaching, and mentorship to Tissue Recovery Supervisors and staff.Ensures the Tissue Recovery Supervisors meet with staff on a regular basis and follow up with staff pertaining to performance concerns.Ensures Tissue Recovery Supervisors are performing the required day-to-day tasks necessary to run operations such as staffing activities, workload allocation, and tissue recovery activities, training, chart review, and auditing of recovery functions.Facilitates staff meetings and ensures training/development of staff related to clinical and non-clinical skills (such as communication).Provides technical and clinical advice to staff pertaining to donor screening, processor screening, procedural clarification, recovery, and serves as the administrator on call. Consults with OneLegacy’s ocular and multi-tissue medical directors as needed to qualify the donor for recovery.Responsible for maintaining appropriate staffing levels; responsible for ensuring that the hiring process is facilitated through the Human Resources (HR) department. Also responsible for disciplinary action and assisting with employment separations, including exit interviews.Sets expectations, sets the standard for professionalism, and holds staff accountable to expectations and goals.Responsible for the maximization of tissues recovered per donor to ensure tissue processors' requirements are met.Prepares reports and analyzes data as requested by leadership to inform management, suggest process improvements to meet goals, or provide data on programs and services.Ensures staff understand and comply with all recovery objectives, performance standards, and policies.Executes individual, departmental, and organizational goals and objectives.Maintains competency and skill set to perform organ, eye, and tissue recoveries.Manager Responsibilities:Implements and revises policies and procedures necessary for organ, eye, and tissue recovery.Works with the Director to create the annual department budget; responsible for maintaining expenses within budgeted guidelines.Ensures the department has adequate staffing and scheduling to sustain recovery volumes during peaks and valleys.Works with the Quality Systems department to ensure department compliance with policies and procedures, standards, and regulations.Works with Donor Information to ensure recovery documentation is completed accurately.Fosters positive professional working relationships within and outside the department.Works with tissue processors to ensure their requirements are met in terms of tissues recovered, revisions to procedures, and staff training.Manages the pulsatile perfusion process (kidney pumping) and ensures staff are trained in the process.Ensures staff are provided with the necessary training to perform assigned tasks.Provides good customer service to donation partners such as Transplant Centers, Tissue Processors, Coroner, Hospitals, Funeral Homes, and Testing laboratories.Performs other duties as assigned.Administrative Responsibilities:Ensures shift assignments, timesheets, and time-off requests are appropriately managed.Provides real-time feedback, learning, and coaching opportunities to staff.Ensures the recovery team works in a collaborative teamwork environment.Recruits and interviews staff.Meetings, Training Sessions, P&P, and Competency Assessments Responsibilities:Attends all meetings as scheduled and required.Ensures staff attend meetings and complete necessary training.Completes all assigned policies & procedures, online training, and stays current with all assigned training prior to completing any FCC function.Assists in training colleagues when signed off on any function as a trainer/preceptor.Scheduling Responsibilities:OneLegacy is a 24/7/365 operation, and the MTO is required to work various schedules/shifts/hours (night/day)/holidays/weekends in support of organizational objectives.Physical Environment/Working Conditions:Location: Corporate Offices and RedlandsTravel: Required to travel by personal auto, OneLegacy vehicle, and/or by air to meeting sites and other locations.Work Hours: Exempt employees shall be paid an established salary on a bi-weekly basis and are expected to fulfill the duties of their position regardless of hours worked. The workweek for full-time exempt employees is normally considered to be 40 hours; however, greater emphasis is placed on meeting the responsibilities assigned to the position than on working a specified number of hours. Exempt employees are not eligible to receive overtime compensation. Must be available evenings, holidays, and weekends as required.Job Qualifications:Education: Required to have one of the following:• Associate’s degree• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university• Completion of a Certification Program such as Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Surgical Technologist (CST), or Paramedic (NRP).• CEBT or CTBS Certifications are preferred but not required.Experience: Four years of experience working in a leadership capacity for a tissue bank, OPO, tissue processor, ambulance company, fire department, emergency room, surgical center, medical devices, pharmaceutical, or biological laboratory.Certification & License: OneLegacy requires employees to maintain a current California driver’s license and current vehicle insurance. Please refer to OneLegacy’s Policy HR108 - Licensure and Certification for insurance coverage requirements.Requirement: Employee must be able to pass a local government agency (coroner’s office) background check.Equipment: Reliable automotive transportation is required.
