Requirements / Qualifications

Cross Country Head coaching position is currently being offered at Unidos Middle School. Candidates should be experienced in the sport, have coaching experience and a resume of working with student-athletes. Unidos Middle School desires to select a coach who is committed to developing young athletes both on and off the field. Applicants will be required to obtain First Aid/CPR, NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching, NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest, NFHS Concussion in Sports and NFHS Heat and Illness prevention, as well as all other Napa Valley Unified School District Human Resources required documents. The season begins in September and runs through October or 5 weeks. The coach receives a district stipend at the end of the season. Duties include:Conducting daily practiceManaging equipmentTravelling with the team to away gamesDeveloping positive relationships with parents and playersPlanning an end of season awards recognitionMust have basic knowledge of the following:Character-building aspects of sports, including techniques and methods of teaching and reinforcing the core values comprising sportsmanship and good characterKnowledge of physical capacities and limitations of the age group coachedCoaching principles related to educational philosophy, adolescent psychology, nutrition, risk management and the rules and strategies of the sport
