Plant Manager

at the Gurdon, AR Plywood location. This key leadership role provides strategic leadership and coaching to employees through a shared vision for the operation, driving continuous improvement in process reliability, product quality, and operating cost. The preferred candidate will:Lead by example; coaching and developing othersSupport and lead effective change throughout the facilityDevelop, lead and coach teams for maximum engagement and participation in pursuit of objectives and goalsHave a strong commitment in EHSProvide direction to team to successfully execute workflow processWhat You Will Do In Your RoleLeading and mentoring employees to build a Principle Based Management (PBM) culture in ways that are consistent with our guiding principlesLeading overall operation of the facility, from receipt of raw materials to the shipment of finished lumber to marketEnsuring the facility meets company expectations for production scheduling, inventory control, operating rate, fiber recovery, and facility financial performanceEnsuring a consistently high level of performance in the areas of managing workplace safety and environmental compliance by driving Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) down through the organizationSelecting and developing a team of Principled Entrepreneurs who work together to create long-term valueMaintaining a productive working relationship with peers in the various support capabilities such as procurement, sales, accounting, HR, etc.Ensuring the facility complies with all applicable company policies, and state, federal and local regulationsThe Experience You Will BringRequirements:Three (3) or more years of experience leading manufacturing processes, which includes work processes, operations excellence, maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvementDemonstrated track record in leading profitable change in an organizationExperience leading and managing direct reports, including recognition of talent gaps, coaching, performance feedback, and incentivesExperience with planning/expense management with a basic understanding of financial and accounting practicesExperience and understanding of Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) management systems, risk assessment/mitigation, and project planning and executionMust be able and willing to work safely, and promote and enforce safe work practicesExperience formulating business improvement strategies that achieve resultsWhat Will Put You AheadBachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering or Wood ScienceMaster's Degree in Business AdministrationThree (3) or more years of progressive experience in a wood products facility in one or more of the following positions: Plant Manager, Production Manager, Plant Superintendent, Reliability or Maintenance Manager, or in an equivalent leadership roleLarge capital project Engineering or Management experienceExperience implementing and using continuous improvement/lean tools such as; Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, Transactional Lean, etc. to drive improvement
