The successful candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, technical expertise, and a thorough understanding of directional drilling and locating operations. As the Crew Lead, you will oversee and manage all aspects of the directional drilling work, including equipment operation, locates, and crew coordination. This vital role requires excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to ensure the successful execution of projects.Responsibilities:Lead and manage a crew of directional drill operators and locators, ensuring efficient and safe operation on all job sites.Plan and organize daily work schedule, ensuring equipment and resources are allocated effectively to meet project deadlines.Perform directional drill operations, including setting up and operating drill equipment according to project plans and specifications.Conduct locates, using appropriate methods and equipment to accurately determine the location of underground utilities.Monitor drill head tracking and ensure drilling is completed within the designated path and grade requirements.Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues or challenges that may arise during drilling operations.Train new employees in the safe and efficient use of directional drilling equipment and locating techniques.Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards at all times.Conduct regular equipment maintenance and inspections, reporting any defects or malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.Keep accurate records, photos, and documentation of daily operations, including job site conditions, equipment usage, and project progress, and provide to Superintendent as needed.Monitor and control costs, ensuring efficient resource utilization and adherence to project budgets.Ensure crew members adhere to safety protocols and promote a culture of safety within the team.Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or training in directional drilling preferred.Proven experience in directional drilling, including drill operation and locating, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership position.Strong knowledge of directional drilling techniques, equipment, and industry best practices.Proficient in reading and interpreting project plans, blueprints, and specifications.Solid understanding of underground utility systems and their potential impact on the drilling operation.Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team towards project objectives.Effective communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain positive relationships with crew members, project stakeholders, and clients.Attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities to ensure accurate and successful drilling operations.Ability to work independently as well as contribute effectively within a team-based environment.Valid Class A CDL is preferred.This job description is intended to provide an overview of the responsibilities and requirements of the Foreman - Directional Drill Operator/Locator position.
