The Sr. Director of Distribution and Logistics will manage & oversee all operational, distribution, and logistical aspects of the company for the US and Canada Region. They will provide day-to-day leadership and management of the inventory and logistics team and develop strategy in line with the overall company goals and objectives. The Director of Distribution and Logistics must be well-organized, and self-directed, while maintaining a team-oriented approach. Above all other requirements is an insatiable desire to model the Neogen DNA, while being able to integrate detailed information into a “big picture” view to make balanced decisions to the greatest benefit of the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Liaise with all departments, including Executive, Accounting, Sales, Client Services, Engineering, Human Resources, Marketing, etc., to align on objectives, risks/opportunities, and plans.

Work with various layers of leadership to formulate and implement operational business strategy, plans, operational best practice, policy, and procedure.

Drive cross-functional projects to completion and develop systems to track progress toward operational goals.

Strategically plan and manage logistics, warehouse, transportation, and customer services for a global $1B growth company.

Manage the liaison with and negotiate with suppliers, manufacturers, retailers, and consumers.

Oversee and track quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs, and efficiency.

Drive the development and execution of the organization’s logistical/operational strategy.

Successfully manage all inbound and outbound freight activity.

Design and develop long-term warehousing and third-party logistics vendor management strategy.

Ensure measurement and effectiveness of all internal and external processes throughout all layers of the operational structure.

Create reports to demonstrate the success of operational activities, analyze results, report on key metrics, and findings.

Foster a success-oriented, accountability/ownership-driven environment within the department.

Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of the organization.

Motivate and lead a high-performance operations team; attract, recruit, and retain required members of the team not currently in place; providing mentoring as a cornerstone to the management career development program.

Build and promote an organizational culture that is customer-centric, professional, and respected as a “best place to work.”

Adapt operations to meet varied operational and compliance needs based upon geographical regulations and requirements while maintaining maximum efficiency.

Ensure that business processes use systems to ensure consistent service delivery, increasing efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

Update job knowledge by remaining aware of new regulations, participating in educational opportunities, accomplishing relevant certifications, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree required, with a concentration in Operations Management, Logistics, Business Operations, or similar preferred.

Relevant professional certifications preferred.

Experience with modern Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). SAP EWM preferred.

Prior experience establishing / starting up warehouse sites.

Proven ability to drive change; standardize process and procedure; build and maintain a strong performance and accountability culture.

Highly proactive and able to navigate ambiguity and complexity while developing successful solutions.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple, deadline-driven projects with a keen attention to detail.

Effective at operating in a lean, fast-paced environment, with the ability to learn quickly and absorb new information.

Strong process/project management skills, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and juggle multiple priorities.

10+ years of experience in warehousing, distribution, and logistics, with a track record of leading, developing, and implementing domestic and international supply chain programs.

5+ years of progressive leadership experience.

Ability to travel domestically and internationally (30-40%).

Proficiency in English is required.
