Job Details:Mercer University is searching for an Associate Director of Student Loan Collections on the Macon campus.

Responsibilities:Under the general supervision of the Director of Student Loans and University Bursar, the Associate Director of Student Loan Collections independently administers borrower delinquency and default prevention/management program for the university. This position will be responsible for the efficient delivery of all student loan default prevent outreach efforts by providing critical and direct oversight. This position will manage the following: default prevention workshops; entrance and exit counseling; and provide quality customer service to all students and their families. Additionally, this position is responsible for the implementation of default prevention initiatives including working with students to prevent student loan delinquency and default, discussing comprehensive repayment options, and increasing financial awareness and wellness. The Associate Director independently manages Financial Literacy programs to assist delinquent Federal Loan borrowers with a special emphasis on Cohort Default. This position is responsible for supervising five direct reports in the Student Loans Office.

Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and two years of professional experience in financial services, accounting, and/or other directly related experience are required. In addition, must have prior experience handling cash transactions.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills and the ability to work with representatives from public and private entities and handle potentially sensitive situations.

Effective written and oral interpersonal and communication skills, knowledge of business management principles, methods, and procedures.

Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present complex data effectively.

Proficiency and understanding necessary to navigate digital environments, utilize productivity software, troubleshoot technical issues, and adapt to emerging technologies.

Comprehensive knowledge of financial record keeping, procedures, and practices. Ability to interpret a wide range of written rules and regulations.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Familiarity with student loan management systems and financial aid software.

Experience in student loan default management within federal and state student financial aid programs including knowledge of U.S. Department of Education rules and regulations; knowledge and understanding of cohort default rate management and student loan repayment options.

Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of managing teams and building successful relationships.
