Assistant Director of Student Support Services

collaborates with different departments in the general responsibility of supporting students in their efforts to make full use of the opportunities available to them. The Assistant Director provides advice, and counsel to students and groups from diverse backgrounds and administers programs and activities aimed at providing belonging in, and exposure to, diverse cultures and ethnic groups for all constituents of the College. The Assistant Director reports to the Chief Diversity Officer.Position Description/General Scope of Duties

Leadership

Manages the Program Coordinator for first-generation student support and provides general oversight of the success scholars program via the coordinator.Support with oversight of services, including budgeting, supervision, mentoring, coaching, and team building within the Office of Diversity Equity and Inclusion (ODEI).Manages the Development and day-to-day success of the “Unity” organization.Serve on the Chief Diversity Officer’s Leadership team.Represent ODEI on institutional committees regarding a broad range of issues.Support with developing a culture and climate that promotes an environment supportive of a diverse population.Collaboration, Assessment and Administration

Collaborate with community partners to implement and coordinate initiatives that enhance the persistence and retention of underrepresented and other marginalized students.Build and foster vital relationships with colleagues and units across the campus to support the needs of diverse students.Support students experiencing academic or personal difficulties and assist them in connecting to University of Tampa resources.Establish data-driven programmatic goals as it relates to building community and accessing resources.Provide regular reports on progress toward the goals, including quarterly and year-end reports.Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds.Qualifications

Master's degree in higher education or related field required.People and community centered approach to the work of DEI.A minimum of three years of full-time, relevant higher education experience.Demonstrated understanding of how to support diverse communities.Proven human-centered and data-informed approach.Strong and broad knowledge of identity development models.Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and organizational communication.Strong time management and prioritization.Flexible hours required to support evening and weekend events.Working knowledge of data analysis tools, social media platforms, and Microsoft Office.Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.Other duties as assigned.Required Attachments
