Job Summary:

Participatesin internal audits of nursing practices and in developing and implementing aplan of correction when deficits are identified.Participatesin ensuring all facets of the nursing budget are within established parameters.Participatesin the quality assessment and improvement process and activities (ie. audit ofMD orders monthly).9.Assists with tasks toensure the nursing department is adequately staffed to provide quality care to patients/residents:

Establishes and facilitates effective employer/employee relations.Recruitsand selects nursing service personnel based on facility needs, as directed bythe Director of Nursing.Maintains employee hiringforms and processes and ensures completion for new employees.Maintains NursingDepartment staffing at a level congruent with patient/resident needs, budgetedpositions and employee requests.SchedulesNursing Department staffing levels to support individual and group activitiesfor patients/residents out of the facility.Participates in orientation sessions for nursingservice personnel.Evaluates performance for all levelsof nursing servicepersonnel.Participates in"on-call" schedule for nursing supervisory personnel to ensure 24/7nursing support for staff nurses.10.Assists the DON inmaintaining the provision of in-service/staff development programs to meetnursing objectives and policies and procedures in compliance with state andfederal regulations. Note: If the full-time Staff Development Coordinator isavailable, then the ADON assists in the DON'sabsence.

Ensures that all nursingassistants complete or have completed the certified training program.Ensuresstaff development programs address the needs of patients/residents and nursingstaff.Evaluatesprocesses related to staff development programs to determine success of theprograms and future needs.11.Provides clinical expertise to facilitate and support thenursing process in patient/resident interventions in compliance with the State NursePractice Act for RN, LPN or LVN.

Makesnursing rounds in a manner that identifies specific patient/resident problemsand monitors plan of action implemented by nursing staff.Assesses technical skills of nursing personnel through observationof various nursing procedures, as directed by the Director of Nursing.Assessesnursing judgment made in specific situations to determine nursing staffcompetency and to identify nursing staff knowledge and performance deficits, asdirected by the Director of Nursing.Acts as a clinical expert or facilitator in specific patient/resident situations.Identifiesclinical problem areas on behalf of the Director of Nursing and assists withdevelopment of plans of correction.Acts as aclinical expert in facilitating the patient/resident care planning process.Assistsin the development of daily patient/resident care assignments that meets patient/residentand facility needs.12.Safety concerns are identified,and appropriate actions are taken to maintain and assure patient safety and asanitary environment for patients, residents, employees and visitors. Includedbut not limited to:

Participatesin ensuring a safe environment for patients/residents, staff and families.Investigatesall nursing department employee accidents in accordance with facility policiesand procedures.Monitors and reviews patient/residentincidents to identify possible legal issues and to identify patternsthat might requirepreventive intervention.Implements infection control policies andprocedures as outlined in the company program, as directed (the SOC may alsoperform this task).Ensures that all NursingDepartment staff members are educated and utilize infection control practicesthat protect employees, patients/residents andfamiliesASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF NURSING QUALIFICATIONS:

Must becurrently licensed

Registered Nurse (RN) . Must maintain anactive

Registered Nurse (RN)

license in good standingthroughout employment.Must havestrong leadership skills and be able to lead a team of nursing staff, aswell as help foster a team atmosphere with the nursing divisionLiaisons withresidents, families, support departments, etc. to adequately plan forresident needsMust have theability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives,policies, and procedures of the facility
