Job Summary:

The Assistant Director for Academic and Cultural Engagement will lead intercultural and cross-cultural education, as well as academic support initiatives for the Intercultural Student Engagement Center. This Assistant Director will oversee several cultural celebrations for national heritage months in collaboration with campus departments and student organizations. This role will also coordinate wrap-around academic support initiatives, through a cultural wellness framework. This role will also oversee retention-focused cohort programs.

Essential Duties:

Coordinate multiple national heritage months and cultural celebrations through comprehensive campus partnerships including academic departments, administrative units, student organizations and the Greater Dallas-Fort Worth community.

Serve as the liaison to campus and community partners seeking support and collaboration on cultural heritage month programs.

Develop and maintain academic support initiatives through campus collaborations and resources. This includes office hours for external partners.

Oversee retention cohort programs, including residential learning communities.

This may include serving as an instructor for the UNIV course in partnership with Division of Student Success. Advise and co-advise cultural student organizations.

Supervise full-time coordinator position, graduate assistant(s) and student assistant(s).

This includes holding weekly meetings, professional development, delegating tasks/responsibilities, and staff accountability.

Oversee marketing initiatives to increase participation.

Responsible for budget management, assessment, tracking and reporting.

Serve on division and campus communities to advance initiatives related to student success.

Assist in the day-to-day operations of Intercultural Student Engagement Center & other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent and/or relevant experience.

Minimum 3 years' experience working in event planning, training, and higher education environment.

Ability to utilize independent thinking, judgment, and decision-making skills. Experience working with a diverse population.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree and direct experience leading or supporting student success initiatives in the higher education environment. Experience planning and executing events.

Experience with budgets, assessment, and program development.

Supervisory experience.
