Brown University’s School of Professional Studies (SPS) brings a Brown education to new audiences of learners: those focused on the development of skills and a breadth of knowledge necessary for professional success and leadership. We leverage Brown’s intellectual centers of excellence, rigorous teaching, and developmental approach to learning in a range of programs, including serving students outside of traditional degree programs. We partner with Brown departments, centers, institutes, and schools to develop degree and non-degree programs, and to support the recruitment, retention, and placement success of master’s students, including traditional, non-traditional, and professional students.Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Assistant Director for Online Programs, this position serves as a vital member of the Academic Innovation unit within The School of Professional Studies (SPS). This position will oversee the day to day administrative and operational functions of online master's programs offered in partnership through SPS and various schools & departments throughout Brown. This role requires a strategic thinker, capable of independent decision making with excellent organizational skills and a commitment to academic excellence and student success. This position is responsible for managing internal and external processes related to an assigned portfolio of online graduate programs, and understanding institution policy, program policy and accreditation standards. The incumbent will oversee all aspects of operational and programmatic activities directly related to online Master’s programs. The Program Specialist will work closely with relevant colleagues at SPS, academic departments and other Brown offices and manage daily online program administrative workflow, including with budgeting, staffing & curriculum planning, and policy & process development and implementation. The Program Specialist conducts data analysis to track student progress, program effectiveness, and identify areas for improvement. Additionally, they play a key role in marketing and admissions efforts, developing strategies to attract and retain students, and working closely with the recruitment team to meet enrollment targets. The Program Specialist will supervise the Admissions Coordinator, student workers, and additional positions as needed/approved.Areas of Major Responsibility:Program Administration & Academic OperationsData ManagementAdmissions & MarketingStaff ManagementQualifications:Bachelor’s Degree and at least 3 years of related experience or the equivalent combination of education/experience.Strong organizational, administrative, and time management skills with demonstrated ability to work and make decisions independently, take initiative and manage multiple tasks, anticipate needs, set priorities, solve problems, and meet deadlines.Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and positively interact with diverse populations including students, faculty, staff and external constituents.Demonstrated ability to work independently and to effectively manage a project.Excellent interpersonal as well as verbal and written communication skills.Demonstrated ability to manage direct reports.Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.High level of computing proficiency with interest in developing new proficiencies; skilled working knowledge of computer technology and Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite software.Ability to work a flexible schedule as required, including possible occasional evenings/weekends for meetings or events.Preferred:Prior experience in academic administration and/or program operations/management, preferably within a higher education institution.Experience with Slate, Banner, and/or other student CRM/SIS systems and databases.Experience with learning management systems and other educational technologies.Knowledge of accreditation processes and standards.Understanding of program development.Prior experience in online graduate education environments.Salary Grade:
