KBX Logistics is seeking a Transportation Procurement Lead that will support railroad logistics and rail freight pricing for commodities shipped or received by rail. This role adds value by procuring the best possible freight solutions that meet our service and cost competitive needs. As a member of this team, you have the opportunity to interact with businesses across Koch Industries and External Customers to identify and implement rail logistics solutions supporting the organization.

Our Team

The Transportation Procurement team is responsible for understanding shipper requirements and proactively and strategically engaging our carrier partners to deliver mutually beneficial and advantaged solutions. The scope of this role is primarily rail, but will interact with domestic surface modes, including Dedicated Truckload, One-Way Truckload, Intermodal, Flatbed, LTL, Expedited, Bulk, and more. The Transportation Procurement team is a part of KBX Logistics, a third-party logistics and assets management provider, which is a subsidiary of Koch Inc. The Transportation Procurement Team manages over 100,000 rail carloads annually, supporting 165 rail served locations, both within Koch Industries' and external customers. We partner with all Class I railroads and many smaller railroads.

What You Will Do

Quote rail rates using routing options while adhering to vendor protocols

Optimize rail routes while ensuring service meets customer needs

Evaluate all transportation costs (demurrage, equipment leases, transit time, etc.) to obtain best value

Develop negotiation strategies that align to business unit vision(s)

Conduct spreadsheet analysis and data visualization responsibilities

Manage contracts, rate databases, and rate analysis cycles

Maintain historical pricing and negotiation detail data

Benchmark and reporting of rail pricing industry (market specific) to analyze YoY costs

Partner and own vendor relationships and leverage to proactively resolve conflicts

Develop and implement best practices that support business vision

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

Experience working for a shipper, railroad, or transportation company in a supply chain role

Strong organizational and prioritization skills

Experience in using large data sets for decision-making, reporting, and presenting to stakeholders.

Ability to travel up to 10%

What Will Put You Ahead

BS/BA Degree with a concentration in Logistics or Supply Chain or Finance or Sales & Marketing

Experience negotiating contracts, rates, terms and conditions and service levels

Experience working in the procurement field for the rail industry
