The Business Development Sales Manager’s primary responsibility is the acquisition of new clients and the establishment of productive and profitable relationships with external organizations, helping to grow sales of packaging product solutions, including paperboard & corrugate mailers, Conformer products, and a variety of other value-added packaging solutions. This position is required to generate and deliver sales and marketing initiatives, revenue growth, and client retention strategies.The Business Development Sales Manager role is a combination of direct sales development activity to drive sales volume, as well as directing a team of Business Development Representatives to meet and exceed revenue targets while promptly and professionally addressing the needs of customers. The Manager is further required to coach and mentor the sales team through motivation, leadership, and encouragement while striving for exceptional customer service standards and accountability. The team is expected to proactively prospect and network within identified target markets to increase awareness of our product line and to find, quote, and close business opportunities.Candidate Profile:

We are seeking a business-building, savvy Sales Manager who is passionate about expanding into new markets and closing deals. Many years of experience selling packaging products and solutions will enable the successful candidate to contribute to significant growth for our Packaging division. The candidate must be a decisive Sales Leader and driver to aggressively expand sales, provide strong leadership to shape and focus the business development team, as well as a proven track record of success “in the field” directly developing and closing new sales opportunities.Business Development:

Develop new business on an ongoing basis to meet or exceed sales targetsNetwork effectively in efforts to acquire new clientsIndependently identify, qualify, and pitch prospective new business to close opportunitiesProactively assess the needs and requirements of prospective customers using a consultative approachPrepare and present customized proposals in person to a customer audienceRespond to all customer inquiries in a timely fashion ensuring that all communication is highly effective, succinct, targeted, and goal-orientedCollaborate harmoniously with the Innovation Team, internal manufacturing, and support staff throughout the order fulfillment process and after on issues such as: rush requirements, quoting requests, delivery dates, quality issues, credit collection and management, etc.Maintain productive, profitable, and friendly business relationships with clients and potential clientsSales Management:

Provide direction for the business development team, ensuring appropriate training and guidance are providedEnsure that appropriate sales goals are developed and achievedMeasure the activities of business development representativesLead, coach, and motivate the team to achieve sales goalsAttain budgeted revenue expectationsAssist in annual sales budget planningMarketing:

Take appropriate actions to increase the visibility and stature of the organizationReview research and business plans to assist in developing strategies for the improvement and development of products and servicesContribute to creating appropriate strategies to ensure competitive edgeConduct and assign market research and analysisPromote the mission and values of the organization both internally and externallyStay up to date with external and internal developments in the environment for identifying new market segmentsDevelop a process to gather continuous feedback from clientsExecute strategic marketing plansRequirements:

10+ years related sales experience in packaging related field with a strong preference for manufacturing experience over distribution experienceIdeally 5+ years team leadership experienceBusiness Degree or equivalent preferredExcellent technical skills, including understanding of paperboard packaging or corrugate packaging products converting or manufacturing. Understanding of the printing process is a must.Process-oriented and technology-savvy to develop & implement prospecting plans (familiarity with CRM software a definite asset)Strong interpersonal and face-to-face relationship building skills in multi-levels of accountsExcellent business communication skills, both oral & writtenStrong presentation and persuasive negotiation skills to “close the deal”Time management skills with the ability to multi-taskIntermediate computer skills required in MS OfficeSelf-motivated, enthusiastic, passionate, committed to careerMust have a valid driver’s license and vehicle, and be willing to travel as required
