Description:
As the Director of Accounting Services (WMS BAND 3), you will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive range of financial services, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general accounting, payroll, and financial analysis to DES and 40 small agencies. Your mission is to ensure the seamless integration of financial practices, benchmark services, and provide strategic financial guidance to help DES operate efficiently and maintain competitiveness. You will lead and coach the Finance Division, aligning its efforts with the agency's goals and sustaining and improving the accounting framework.What you will be doing:
Some of the duties include:Leadership and oversight for Accounts Payable, Revenue Management, Payroll, and General Accounting teams.Manage and enhance the agency's complete accounting management framework.Develop and implement accounting processes and documentation.Direct monthly and fiscal year close processes.Ensure agency compliance with statutes, rules, policies, and GAAP.Provide guidance to executive management on policy issues.Collaborate with the CFO and Accounting Director to develop division strategies.Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university involving major study in finance, business, accounting, or public administration.Three (3) years of experience managing a financial management organization.Five (5) years of experience in proprietary fund accounting/financial management.Preferred/Desired Qualifications:CPA certification is highly desirable.Financial management experience in a state government setting.Supplemental Information:
