JOB INFORMATION

Work Type: A Permanent, full time vacancy

The Position

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

This position is based at Southern Desert Correctional Center in Indian Springs, NV. The incumbent is responsible for management of various operational systems; checks systems, monitor and/or adjust a computerized energy management system; adjusts combustion and safety controls; adjust pressure and temperature gauges; take water samples and analyze chemical properties of feed water; prevent water deposits and sludge build-up. Preventative maintenance includes lubricating motors and fans; replacing drive belts; cleaning equipment and surrounding areas to promote safety and efficiency; consulting service manuals while performing routine maintenance and repairs; installing retrofit and fabricating new equipment and components to update systems or replace worn parts.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Completion of a recognized heat plant apprenticeship program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements

A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.

Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.

A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.

A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
