Lead Teacher - Learning Adaptive Program - Madeline English School

DEFINITION:The Lead Teacher shall be that employee member of the school staff designated by the Principal of the Madeline English School to assist in the administration of the school.

PREREQUISITE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:Minimum:

Master’s Degree in Special Education from an accredited institutionMinimum:

Five years’ experience in Special EducationMinimum:

ABA certificationMinimum:

Massachusetts State Certification as a moderate disabilities teacher K-8Minimum:

Training in an MA state approved crisis intervention program

Candidates should possess:The ability to lead a complex, comprehensive program within a schoolThe ability to develop the full potential of a highly competent staffA strong background in curriculum with experience in program design, evaluation and managementKnowledge and understanding of special education regulations, the referral process, IEP development and complianceThe ability to monitor implementation of IEPAn understanding of progress meetings to address needed changes to student IEPsA proven record in the management of students and student activitiesSuperior skills in articulating the goals and objectives of the school to the community of EverettThe ability to articulate the district philosophy in the treatment of students with disabilities to parents from diverse culturesKnowledge of Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, and effective teaching strategies

WORKING TIME:According to the Everett Teachers Association contract

DUTIES:Prepare lessons and deliver direct instruction that meet grade level educational requirements0.6 student caseload responsibilities and 0.4 supportive tasksEffectively manage student caseloads and ensure classroom responsibilities and supportive tasks are addressedSupport LAB teaching staff and monitor student progress in the programImplement and supervise curriculum, establish course outlines and education objectives consistent with community educational goalsEmploy an efficient system for pupil and program appraisal and make recommendations for changes needed to improve existing programs to meet the needs of studentsEvaluate student data with the teachers to make informed, instructional decisions that support individual student performance and achievementBe visible at district and school eventsMaintain communication with parents regarding their children’s progress and performanceAnalyze the building-based assessment survey yearly to improve specific instructional practices, school climate and curriculum alignmentOversee the curriculum alignment, in accordance with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and Common Core State Standards, with the assistance of the Director of CurriculumPerform any other duties and assume other responsibilities as may be assigned by the building administration

GENERAL ADMINISTRATION:Adhere to all directives of the school administrationProvide support to building staff as requiredPromote a healthy and safe environmentPrepare letters, written reports and make oral presentations regarding administrative activitiesAttend and participate in various professional and in-service meetings that enhance the educational goals of the schools, as approved and directed by the districtMaintain program inventories of educational materials, furniture and equipment

SALARY:Salary for this position will be in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Everett School Committee and the Everett Teachers Association.
