Position Summary InformationSummary:
Provides exceptional services and resources, promoting medical informatics, and advancing health information literacy across diverse health professions programs of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry and health-related research. Responsible for leading the services, resources and staff of the Library.
Principal Functional ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership:
Provide strategic and innovative leadership to establish the library as the information hub that finds, analyzes, and provides access to critical information that improves patient care and supports health and medical education, research, and publication. Assess service quality using reliable data to develop strategic direction and make data-driven decisions regarding the effective resources to serve all constituencies.
Team Leadership:
Recruit, lead, motivate and develop staff, inclusive of the Library, Depository and Writing Center, to foster exceptional expertise and client services.
Collaboration and Partnerships:
Build and strengthen relationships with NEOMED faculty, administrators, researchers, clinical site libraries, OhioLINK and consortia, and external agencies to provide exceptional library services and resources. Provide professional representation to advocate for library-related issues on institutional and state-wide committees and represent the NEOMED campus community.
AI Integration:
Possess a basic understanding of AI technologies and how they interface with library services (e.g., NLP, ML, and computer vision) and research. Harness generative AI for use in library services and solutions, such as search databases, citation managers, etc. and introduce students and researchers to basic AI research techniques in library orientation programs.
Operations Management:
Assume fiscal management and leadership of the Library and the Educational Resources Committee (ERC) to review and approve electronic resources acquisition, access within the student fee funding source.
Other Duties:
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in library and information science or equivalent from an accredited American Library Association (ALA) program
Five years of experience in academic library administrative/leadership roles with a minimum of 3 years experience supervising professional staff.
Evidence of leadership ability and progressive growth in the library field
Budget and resource oversight/management experience
Preferred Qualifications
Additional advanced degree in library sciences, medical informatics or health science field
Medical Library Association Academy of Health Information Professionals credentials.
Physical RequirementsMust be able to utilize a phone, computer and other office equipment.
Department Specific InformationStarting Salary Range: $76,006 – $91,207, commensurate with experience
