GENERAL PURPOSE:

A Business Analyst in our Pinnacol Product Organization is responsible for bridging the gap between the business and technology teams to ensure that product development aligns with business objectives and customer needs. They gather and analyze data, define product requirements, and facilitate communication among stakeholders to support the successful development and delivery of products. As a Business Analyst, you will be a key link in the definition and translation of the most ambitious new innovation ideas into practical solution designs that can be used to drive implementation through agile development teams.

The Business Analyst collaborates with Product Owners and other stakeholders to shape the approach to complex innovation ideas that are at the leading edge of the organization's efforts to drive strategic business impact. These complex initiatives will often have diverse stakeholders, pioneer new technologies and business strategies, and be subject to change and evolution throughout their development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Act as liaison to product stakeholders to identify needs within scope; prioritize project work to support project scope, dependencies and timelines.Create user stories, ready for team review, with acceptance criteria and appropriate artifacts, such as process models to improve development quality and productivity.Act as "the customer" for team questions, providing feedback and accepting completed stories to ensure team understanding and provide value to stakeholders.Document existing business processes and relationship to systems to build knowledge base content enhancing the speed of issue resolution and knowledge sharing.Meet regularly with internal customers to discuss priorities, identify new opportunities to improve processes, and capture emerging needs.Proxy for the project Product Owner as needed.Utilize project management skills to assist the team in delivering key tasks on time and in the proper order.Assist with QA efforts.Will act as the subject matter expert in multiple Workers' Compensation Insurance systems and/or functional areas; can act as the go-to person for support and user questions before developers have to be involved.Maintain and prioritize the product backlog, tracking changes and ensuring alignment with business goals.Facilitate meetings, workshops, and discussions to clarify requirements and resolve issues.Continuously evaluate and improve business processes and product development methodologies.Identify areas for optimization and efficiency gains.Design training artifacts and support in training as needed.Use data analysis techniques to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for product improvement.ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

Collaborates with the team to continuously improve its internal practices and processes to build predictability and efficiencies.Mentor other Business Analysts improving their performance and awareness of current techniques.May serve on cross-functional teams as requested.Ensure day-to-day activities are consistent with discipline strategies and standard processes.Assist management in implementing team operational strategies to achieve financial and business objectives (profit, growth, retention, and customer experience strategies).Will participate in one or more industry conferences and/or membership in a professional Business Analyst association.Understanding of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design principles.Perform other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred. Relevant work experience (similar kind of work at a similar level of work as described in the essential duties) may be substituted for the bachelor's degree. Completion of a degree is encouraged and supported.

At least three years of IT Business Analyst experience required. Experience working in an agile environment with a basic understanding of relational databases, SQL, and the SDLC or related experience through working on IT projects required.

Expertise with the latest industry techniques, methods, and tools for business analysis.

Must have strong written and oral communication skills and track record for innovation and process improvement.

PBA, CBAP, or similar Business Analyst certification a plus.

Experience in the Insurance or Healthcare industry a plus.

Proficiency in using business analysis tools and software, such as Rally, Gitlab, JIRA, Confluence, or similar.
