At RK&K, we are hiring an experienced Leader in Structural Engineering to join our team in Virginia. As a senior member of our Structures team at RK&K, you will focus on leading a variety of dynamic structural pursuits and projects as it relates to transportation. You should have state (Virginia/VDOT) and municipal experience, be highly proactive, able to develop creative technical solutions, have a strong understanding of structural operations, and hands-on experience with bridge design and field operations.

Essential Functions

Assist in leading our structural design and engineering group throughout Virginia with development and delivery of structural assignments.Assist with Business Development, Marketing, and Team to secure future clients and workload.Provide structural expertise on all project aspects associated with conceptual engineering, detailed engineering designs, and preparation of contract documents for construction followed by construction administration with respect to the structural aspects of the project.Serve as Project/Program Manager on a variety of structure-related projects.Produce construction documents, specifications, and construction cost estimates is a plus.Facilitate internal and client meetings, presentations, and approval of plans.Serve as liaison between client and firm.QA/QC for completeness and accuracy of design work.Provide bridge inspection for clients as needed.Provide engineering judgment and initiative within the Structural Engineering field.Hire, train, and mentor entry-level and junior-level structural engineers.

Required Skills and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering.Ten (10) or more years of bridge design/inspection experience.Excellent communication skills including proposal development.Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Virginia.

Preferred Skills and Experience

VDOT structures/bridge experience, including experience on VDOT DB Projects.Master's degree in Structural Engineering.Completion of NHI 80-hour bridge inspection training or equivalent training.
