Summary Description :Work with the team of VDC experts to execute and manage a range of duties related to Virtual Design and Construction on assigned projects and serve as the resource for the entire project team. Support VDC workflow from design and preconstruction through project completion while developing working relationships with owners, project teams, and subcontractors.
Specific Responsibilities:Oversee multiple projects and direct BatesForum design staff to successfully execute BIM/VDC specific tasks.Provide comprehensive assistance during all project phases which includes the following:
Development of visualization standards and capability.Work closely with project teams in solving problems through the use of digital production tools.Act as a champion for an innovative and integrated approach to the use of technology.Understand the paradigm of standardized and modular approaches to design & construction problems.Support project teams in the creation of standardized content.Seek perfection when it comes to bridging the gap between models and construction documents.
Provide assistance to project teams during both design and construction coordination activities.Provide technical support for a range of applications used in-house (Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360, Infraworks, Dynamo, FormIt, 3DS Max, VICO, Enscape, Lumion).Assist during the Pre-Construction effort with estimating and scheduling processes and developing workflows that facilitate seamless transition of design models into the construction cycle.Assist and coach project teams in the use of companywide VDC best practices.Assume ownership over the digital coordination process and federated model analysis and reporting.Supervise or perform 4D virtual building analysis on models, working closely with scheduling, project managers, and superintendents.Supervise or manage model changes through design updates and as-built conditions.Serve as the information manager and content gatekeeper for the duration of the project.Assist the project management team with the management of subcontractors and development of both work and logistic plans.Maintain understanding of the Clayco/Owner contract.Utilize Clayco’s best practices for the following activities by using the BIM 360 platform:
Monitor document management process.Report and track equipment needs.Implement applicable safety programs.Manage submittals, issues, and QA/QC processes.
Education/Experience/Attributes/Requirements :5+ years’ experience in the AEC industry.A Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture.Minimum 3+ years’ experience with VDC/BIM related processes.General knowledge of construction principles/practices required.Excellent problem-solving skills, with an adaptable and flexible style in working with all types of individuals.Experience dealing with subcontracts, subcontractors, and/or self-perform work is a plus.Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Building Design Suite (Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, 3DS Max), VICO Office, and BIM 360 cloud-based technology.Experience with mid to large scale projects.Ability to quickly analyze, interpret, and compare detailed information.Able to make reliable and accurate conclusions based on information gathered.Strong interpersonal and effective communication skills.Assertive and self-confident.Comfortable writing and presenting verbally in a manner that is relevant to the audience.Able to manage team expectations pro-actively.Ability to educate project team on software and workflows utilized throughout the construction process.Strong understanding of project management.Able to read and understand contract documents and drawings.Previous experience in estimating and scheduling is highly desirable.Equal appreciation for design and construction processes.Ability to plan and accomplish goals.Strong willingness to learn and be a contributing team member.Ability to walk the job site, climb ladders, and multi-floor scaffolding.Ability to lift objects at least 50lbs.Willingness to travel occasionally or relocate with a project.Collaborative.
