Visit with supported individuals and/or their Direct Support Staff to discuss diet preferences on a regular basis.Completes Dietary Assessments minimally annually and as needed based on the individuals needs and in preparation for the individual program plan meetings.Make notations on individual care plans in the individual’s medical record when special dietary monitoring is indicated. Assess and document monthly weight variance reports for weight increases and/or decreases of five pounds or more.Assess individuals’ weight and overall nutritional well-being via facility rounding and Health Services Reports. Identify areas of clinic need and apply appropriate interventions.Identify individuals who require special dietary considerations and consult with the Dysphagia Team for appropriate clinical intervention. Participate in bi-monthly meetings with the Dysphagia Team.Work closely with the Interdisciplinary Team and attend inter-departmental meetings. Serve as a communications medium to ensure there is effective communication between Dietary and the other departments.Serves as a member of the departmental directors’ team and is an active participant in weekly meetings.Plan cycle menus in consultation with the Dietary Manager and use of computer menu program, make modifications as needed to make menus seasonally appropriate. Plans therapeutic diets in accordance with individual program plans and physician orders.Update and supervise, in consultation with the Dietary Manager, the accuracy of the menu, and any instructional modifications for daily meal preparation.Prepare a standardized recipe file in consultation with the Certified Dietary Manager.Attend professional meetings and conferences to keep informed of current practices and trends of dietetics and nutrition.Plan and implement training programs for in-services and monthly orientation for new employees.Responsible for updating and implementing all department policies and procedures.Prepare and submit departmental budgets, including labor, food, supplies, and capital purchases. Completes in conjunction with the Dietary Manager, the bi-monthly payroll of the Dietary Department, and client workers.Consult and work closely with the Dietary Manager to implement and provide the necessary sanitation programs within the dietary kitchen and dining room.Works closely with the Dietary Manager to develop specifications and procedures for purchasing food items and supplies. Reviews and approves purchase orders as appropriate.Evaluate employees annually on performance and provides performance feedback according to corporate personnel guidelines, in compliance with HR annual employee evaluations.Provides oversight and consults with the Dietary Manager regarding staff and client workers’ schedule.Conduct weekly meetings, or as needed, with Dietary staff to discuss problems, policies, procedures, equipment needs, menu changes, etc.Perform related work as assigned.
